The desirable 3. 8 litre manual model with overdrive; much beloved by bank robbers & police wheel men of the '60's on either side of the law. I had forgotten just what a hooligans toy these 3. 8 Jaguars can be when pressed hard. Acceleration is crisp & instant at the slightest touch of the throttle. The car is surprisingly agile with a delicate grace through roundabouts; also extremely long legged when overdrive is engaged.

This car is has had considerable expense & care during recent years. The woodwork is as it came from the factory & is in good order. The black leather has been replaced throughout as according to the previous owner it had simply got to the stage where it had to be done. Carpets were also done at the same time. Door cars were also replaced with new giving the car a very smart interior appearance.

These are bills for assorted minor items on the cars upkeep & also for an extensive engine rebuild less then 2000 miles ago that included Liners. Grinding the Crank. new bearings. overhauled head. Timing chain tensioners. 6 pistons. Clutch overhaul. & a full gasket set. Having driven the car I can say for certain that the builder well knew his job. At the same time the car was fitted with triple carbs for added performance with a dash mounted choke lever. Brakes have also been upgraded to three pot Calipers to help in the stopping department.

The exterior of the car is finished in British Racing Green set off well by a set of newish chrome wire wheels on Knock off hubs spinners; the paint being all in good order with no evidence of rust or bubbling. Bright-work is largely original & has some pitting commensurate with age. Under the bonnet the car is tidy & has a cared for appearance to it. Overdrive engages instantly both in & out & is a pleasure to use.

Overall I would describe the car as a tidy example with an original feel to it & in absolutely superb driving order. The light modifications to engine & brakes transform the car & make it very every day useable in modern traffic. Taking it out is a real pleasure & reminds one of why these are so highly rated & sought after.
