A totally original and correct limousine. in sound but very shabby condition. The car is complete with an impressive set of original lamps. long trumpet horns. etc. and we have successfully re-instated the original registration number. issued in Edinburgh in 1936. Paintwork is poor. and flaking off in many places. but the body structure is very impressive. with doors opening and closing nicely. etc. The rear interior. with a careful. gentle clean to the cloth and fresh carpet. will be respectable. but the leather in the front is in tatters. and will need to be renewed. Interesting features include a lovely glass division which. when the handle is cranked. 'disappears' into the headlining. and occasional seats which incorporate fold-down footrest. There is also a sunroof. although this was sealed up years ago. and needs re-commissioning. A running and driving light renovation project. which has the benefit of being undisturbed. which makes the car all the more appealing.

Snippets: Three Scottish Ladies

GXM73 was initially intended to be used on the Park Ward stand at the 1936 Scottish Motor Show but instead was allocated for Mrs Dickson of Brooklands House in Uddingston. The Dickson family had links with the iron & steel industry which can be traced back to the mid 1700s. The Dickson family's “Town House” was 12 Moray Place in Edinburgh. designed in 1822 by James Gillespie Graham for the Earl of Moray. Graham's work varied from Churches – Snizort & Tullibardine; Castles -Ardmaddy & Clonaid to mention a few. Granton House. 12 Moray Place was 1st occupied by Lord Charles Hope who during the Napoleonic Wars enlisted in the Royal Edinburgh Volunteers. he later became their Lt-Col. After just few years GXM73 is shown as being transferred to Mrs Cuthbert of Park Terrace in Stirling. the Cuthbert family firm was F Haldane & Co who were involved in the cooperage trade. they would import Sherry Casks from Spain & Bourbon Casks from America for reselling to the Scottish distilleries who would fill them with Whisky in order to obtain the correct flavour. There is a 3rd lady mentioned on the chassis cards that of Miss Sinclair but there is no address given for her.
