THE SUPER B. The first ever Rover V8 Championship race was held no less than twenty five years ago. at Santa Pod Raceway's 1986 Labour Day Nationals. Although this historic meeting failed to reach a conclusion the first proper round was held at North Weald. one of the National Drag Racing Club's many on-tour meets where Tim Hines took the win in the 100+ Wheels Ford Escort MK1 against the TR7 of Neil Hall. In its heyday the Rover V8 Championship. as backed by John Woolfe Racing. Real Steel and Custom Car and Street Machine magazines. nd produced a lot of quick cars and celebrity names in British drag racing such as Steve Green. Paula Atkin and Kev Jenkins to name but a few.
