This auction is for a quite stunning and extremely rare 1975 Citroen CX 2200.   One of the first things people think about. rightly or wrongly. is CXs rust; this one has none.   The bodywork and underside are almost immaculate with only a few very small marks that have been touched up by the previous owner. in fact the whole car has been so covered in waxoil that it is well and truly protected. The engine runs very smoothly indeed. with the manual choke being needed only for a very short time one a cold start.   Tick over is lovely and quiet.   The interior is in outstanding condition as well. with no fading to the wonderfully period upholstery and a very clean and unmarked headliner.   The car has a number of period extras as well. not least of which is the rather obvious rear screen louver - so 70's!  It also has a functioning map light for the passenger. a very unusual dash tray. an equally rare twin wiper and those rare full-wheel caps.

The pneumatic suspension works perfectly. rising quickly and carrying you in supreme comfort over even the roughest roads.   I drive it as my daily car by country back roads and the difference with my previous car is quite remarkable.

This car is the Citroen featured in a 7 page article in this month's Classics Monthly. (see attached images)

The car. as already mentioned. is very rare. This is due to its condition and age.   It is apparently the third oldest in the UK. and probably the oldest roadworthy example.   It does not have power steering or five gears. but cruises very quietly and happily at 60mph.   The steering is nice and light apart from when you are just pulling away so it really isn't that noticeable.   The five tyres are the correct Michelin's with almost new tread on them.

Built in 1975. it spent the first fourteen years of its life in France (lots of original french receipts).   Imported into the UK in 1991 it has had two owners in that time. so I believe I am the fourth owner in total.

I strongly recommend you come and view the car.   The only fault is an occasional judder when pulling away in 1st and an occasional synchro issue in 3rd. but I have set the reserve price is very realistically to reflect this.   The car comes with a boxed new clutch and spare gearbox too. so should the new owner wish. a transfer would be easily done.   The car is advertised elsewhere. is I reserve the right to end the auction early.   If it goes full term. the winning bidder must pay a £50 deposit within 24hrs.   Any non-payers. tyre kickers. or hagglers after the auction  will not be welcomed and will be reported to eBay.
