Due to a non paying big bidder. I am relisting this great sports car. Please do not bid on this vehicle unless you intend to pay for it.
You are bidding on a Bright Red. Rock Solid.  RUST FREE. Great Running 1962 Triumph TR4. This TR4 commissioned CT3894L was built on January 31. 1962 and was delivered to the Standard Triumph Motor Company in Los Angeles. California. We found this jewel in a midwest garage and spent the last 2 months detailing and tuning it. This is a great looking. great driving vintage Triumph sports car that is turn key ready to enjoy. Here are the details:
Body and TrimThis vintage Triumph's bright red paint is great quality for a street car. it is not show quality paint. I judge the paint job to be approximately 15 years old and the body has some parking lot dings and many rock chips have been touched up by the previous owners. There is also some checking of the red top coat in spots. From 3 feet away this car looks great. All of the chrome trim on this car is in excellent not rust. no pitting.
Chassis and SuspensionThis is absolutely the most rust free frame. chassis and undercarriage that I have ever seen on a non show car. There is literally NO RUST ANYWHERE! The suspension is stock and works well. I could find nothing to repair. The frame is really straight. no dents. no jacking issues. Brakes worked great. we bled them and they worked even better. Oddly enough one of the previous owners wrapped the rear leaf springs in a rust preventative. inhibitor type of cloth which has kept the rear leaf springs in great condition. We have never seen this before but left the cloth wrap in tact. this wrap is visible in the undercarriage photos.
Wheels and TiresThe Dayton Spoke Wire Wheels are in EXCELLENT condition and they fit well on the hubs and the car tracks straight and true. The spare wheel in the trunk is brand new. The KUMHO 165/80 R15 Power Star 758's are in great shape with plenty of tread and no side wall cracking.
Engine and TransmissionThe vintage Triumph 4 cylinder engine runs great. idles smooth. makes good power. and doesn't smoke. The twin SU carbs have been professionally rebuilt and polished and work great. no leaks. The engine has been retrofitted with an alternator by the previous owner and it works great and was nicely fitted to the engine. The engine bay and underhood red painted surfaces are nice enough to detail. wax. and polish. Heater water control valve is new. The four speed transmission works great and shifts smoothly. clutch also works great. Like all British cars of this era. it leaks a bit of oil. There are no coolant leaks and the car runs cool.
Interior The black interior is in great shape. The black dash pad is also in great shape with no cracks. The white dash panel is mint. All gauges work as they should and all controls work too. The seats. carpeting. door panels. floor mats. and interior trim are nearly show condition. The only interior issue is that the radio comes on but we have no sound at the speakers. we are still checking wires. this radio may or may not be working by the close of this auction. All glass is in nice condition. The sun visors are in fair condition.
TrunkThe trunk is show quality. New spare wheel and tire. Previous owner added a fire extinguisher for additional safety. There is also an original TR4 tool kit and factory jack.
Soft Top. Hard Top. and TonneauThe convertible top is like new with no defects and crystal clear windows. the bows are in nice condition and nicely painted the correct color. The black tonneau cover we received also appears to be like new also. This car is also equipped with a Parrish Plastics hard top which has been painted to match the car. The previous owner stored this top in his attic and scratched the paint putting it away and bringing it back down. These scratches are visible in the photos. We fitted the top to the car and its fits great.
SummaryThis is NOT a show car. you will find defects in the finish. It is a terrific driver with lots of options that will turn heads on the street and look right at home at a British Car Show.
