Ford : Other Pickups Cab Over Engine

Are  you looking for a functional hot rod or a novelty vehicle for your business?  Look no farther!  This 1947 Ford Cab Over Engine is a perfect vehicle for any type of deck or even to use as a platform for a food truck.  It is very rare. and attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes.  Built from the ground up. this shiny red Cab is mounted on a 1977 Chev Step Van (P30) Frame.  The running gear provides a stable. modern chassis with 10. 00lbs GVW hauling capacity and new. updated hydro-boost brakes.  Shown with only the single wheels. the full-floating rear axles are usually fitted with dual wheels.
This truck has been built to closely resemble it's factory condition it is fairly simple. other than an Ididit tilit steering column. most of the components on this truck are either original to the 1947 Ford or the 77 Step Van.  The wiring harness and gauges are original to the step van and the mileage recorded in the ad is representative of what is shown on the Step Van Gauges.  A handful of the original 1947 Ford parts that were not used will be included in the sale. The radiator is original to the 1947. but has been cleaned and altered to have only one inlet and outlet.  The Ford was originally powered by a flathead v-8. so the OEM radiator capacity is plenty for a cooler running Chevy small block.    An aftermarket electric radiator fan has been installed on the outside of the radiator due to space constraints in the engine compartment.  The fan is self controlled and in all of our test driving has kept the engine at the bottom end of the temperature range.
The engine is a 350 cu Chevy small block that has been rebuilt by the previous owner of the step van.  The engine starts and runs well. does not smoke and has plenty of power.  We do not have much information about the specific components within the motor as we purchased it with the step van.  The only upgraded component in the engine compartment is an Edelbrock 4 barrel Carb with an electric choke.  The motor has a stock EFI ignition.  The accessories are v-belt driven and include a stock alternator and a rebuilt hydro-boost pump.  Access to the engine and tranny dipsticks are through a panel on the drivers side floorboards.   As per the original cab interior. the doghouse is removable for full access to the engine compartment.  The transmission is a rebuilt TH-400.  As with the engine. it was rebuilt by the previous owner and we only know that it shifts well and doesn't slip in any gear.  The Ford originally came with a standard transmission and therefore there is no transmission cooler in the radiator.  We highly recommend installing an aftermarket transmission cooler once a deck has been installed and the truck is pulling any loads.
The interior is very much stock with the exception of the driving controls and gauges.  If you can believe it. the seats are actually original or at least they were in the condition that you see when we purchased the truck.  The gauges are from the step van as is the steering wheel and the headlight switch.  The windshield wipers are the rebuilt original vacuums units and have stock speed controls that are accessible through the headliner panel.  This truck did not have windshield washers or seat belts originally. and as of yet. there is none installed.  We have applied Rain-X coating to the windshields to assist in driving during rainy conditions.
With the exception of the bumper and the wheels. all of the silver trim you see has been stripped and powder-coated.  The nose cone section of the truck is removable to provide access to the radiator.  All other motor access is through the removable doghouse inside the cab.  There are inner fender sections that have not been installed as the new frame configuration makes them unnecessary.  The wheels and the bumper on the truck have been stripped and painted.  They are NOT chrome.  The tires on the truck are P 235 85 R16s. and are tubeless. although they are all mounted on tube-type rims and have tubes in them.  If you are interested in driving this truck home. I would definitely recommend outfitting it with a couple of spares.
Overall dimensions:  The top of the cab is 7+ feet tall. so this truck will NOT fit in a standard garage.  The wheelbase is 160" and there is 15 feet of straight frame behind the cab.  The fuel tank and battery are mounted on the right side just behind the cab.
This truck has been completely re-built from the ground up.  The cab and fenders were completely stripped and refinished.  The truck is original with the exception of the drivers compartment.  The floor and doghouse has been altered to accommodate the updated steering column and brakes.  At the time of this listing. the following items have not been installed or finished:  Inner fenders. seat belts. interior. windshield swing-out hardware. door locks. sun visors. and rear fenders.  We will be installing these items as time allows and many of the items listed were not factory items and only require installation to comply with modern traffic safety bylaws.  We will include all spare parts and can facilitate any work required by the purchaser at additional up-front cost.
