The Giulietta was introduced in 1954 in coupé form and was the
first truly mass produced Alfa Romeo. It was also a return to
elegance rather than the utilitarian looks of the earlier models.
All of the Giulietta models were driven by the all alloy. twin
overhead camshaft engine with gearing via a four speed. all
synchromesh gearbox. The 101 Series of the Giulietta was introduced
in 1959 and retained the 1290cc all alloy engine. Importantly; the
Giulietta is known for its reliability and durability with parts
and services being readily available from many specialists
throughout the UK and Europe.

In the Alfa tradition of private owners modifying their vehicles to
suit their own requirements. this fascinating example has been
upgraded to suit today's conditions. It is now a very fast
and a very reliable daily driver with excellent torque and. br/>reportedly. superb handling. It originally left Portello in Italy
on 7 March 1959. and sold to Thompson & Taylor of Surrey on 25
March 1959. It is listed in 'Fusi' (the Alfa Bible) as a 1959
Giulietta Sprint 750B. It has never been used for competition but
the bumpers and hubcaps were removed for both weight &
aesthetic considerations. they are still available however and will
accompany the car. Owned since 2003 by the vendor. the previous
owner had this Alfa for some 22 years. during which time it
travelled less than 3. 00 miles. the MoT test schedule was always
rigorously adhered to and was renewed each year. The body and
chassis are reported to be in excellent condition with the engine
and drivetrain in a similar order. When acquired in 2003. it was
already fitted with a 1600cc engine. It has also had the
original four-speed gearbox replaced with a five-speed unit and. br/>more recently. the 1600cc engine has been replaced with a two litre
unit. Classic Alfa styling but with a more spirited drive. To
completely restore it to its original state. a 1300cc engine and a
four-speed gearbox would need to be found with the conversion work
undertaken both very quickly and cheaply. The suspension
benefits from a Chris Robinson RMR handling kit and the rust-free
underside has been Waxoyled. Four Vredestein classic tyres (in good
order) are fitted as well as electronic ignition and a Veloce
exhaust. A most attractive and exciting interpretation of this
classic shape.
