After working on Jaguars for almost 50 years. I have learned the nature of the beast. E-types are my favorites. The 6 cylinder E is gorgeous. but you need to know the pros and cons.
The 6 cylinder car is a narrow track touring car. with a torquey in-line six. They are not very good handling cars. they are a little difficult to steer. and they get very hot in the cockpit. The doors are short and it is difficult for a medium to large size man to get in and out. If you are much taller than 5'10". or long waisted. there is no headroom either. Also adjusting the the front suspension height with the torsion bars is a very daunting task.
Then came the V12 E platform. They are well insulated and comfortable with almost all of them being air conditioned. They have a fabulous AC with a powerful fan and a reliable GM compressor. The track is wider  and the handling is greatly improved. also aided by wider wheels and tires. The doors are longer and entry and exit is greatly improved. and their is more both head and leg room. The steering wheel does not rub your legs as in the earlier cars. Power steering makes the car a elegant yet sporty car to drive. and the v12 power is a thrill with it's turbine type torque that never seems to end. You can feel the power to go 140mph plus. The front suspension height adjustment was simplified with a simple adjustable cam. Also the v12 E has anti-dive front suspension geometry.
Whichever car you may acquire. they are all good investments. Try to buy a car that has never had a hard life through neglect. abuse. or stupidity. It's difficult and expensive to resurrect these cars.
Paint jobs today are hovering up to $10k plus rust repair. It takes almost 80 hours to install an interior in these cars. and with the cost of the kits. you are approaching spending another $10k.
We haven't even talked about tires. engines. transmissions brakes. and on and on. Get the big picture.
A smart buyer in the classic car market. should buy a car that is not only cosmetically nice. but has it's drivability brought back to it's former glory or better.

The v12's have proven to me to be tough engines. There are v12's out their with over 300k miles on them. Like any other engine. you do not want to overheat one. If you keep the engine clean . serviced. and the cooling system in top shape. you can reap the rewards of these milestone cars. Keep in mind. almost all the classic cars for sale today will never see more than 10. 00 miles on them in the rest of their recreational lives. If you need a good Jag mechanic in your area. Boone at Welsh Jaguar knows them all.

This gorgeous low mileage Jag has had three owners. The original owner purchased it in Kentucky. The 2nd owner had it painted at one time. The third owner was an engineer who bought the  proper Jaguar parts to improve  this nice car to a 4 speed instead of the power robbing automatic. A performance aluminum flywheel was part of the mix. The transmission and driveshaft were rebuilt. and a new Borg and Beck clutch was installed. The cooling system  was rebuilt with all new hoses and clamps. pipes. and waterpump. The power steering rack and pump[ were rebuilt. The front suspension was rebuilt and detailed. and new shocks were installed front and back. The air conditioner received a compressor and drier. The car has had a 4 wheel alignment . performed as well.
I acquired the Jag. serviced it front to back with all new fluids. super tuned it. evacuated and charged the AC. and gave the Jag a concours detailing. I have many championships under my belt. but there are no shows in Texas till the fall. I am building two more v12's. this one is DONE. and I'm ready to move on.
I manufacture and sell the Jag-eyes dot com headlight conversion you see on the car. The original lights come with the Jag. and the kit is completely reversable in a few hours. If you do not want the Jag-eyes. I will convert it back to stock as part of the sale.
Come see the Jaguar in  Grand Prairie Texas. Fly into DFW and I'll meet you there and we'll go for a ride.
Thanx. br>Richard Wright
