California Car Orgnl Miles, Documented Matching Numbers

1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with very. very low miles. I found this truck in Southern Califonia with the original and only owner!  He and his father only used for hunting 2-3 times per year.  Thus. we have a one owner. documented 19. 14 mile FJ on its original CA Pink Slip.   Complete numbers matching FJ with all original parts…. Perfect for restoration! 

Over the years. the owner has maintained the truck and it only shows minimal signs of living in the sun for 35 years.  

No oil leaks!  Bone dry in the garage where it sits.

Manual Trans and runs great! strong in all gears

Starter Good. nbsp;Battery Good

Carburetor Runs smooth and starts on first crank

Good tires with original steelies including the spare.

Needs new rubber around the doors. Just changed the oil and replaced the tires. All parts used are always genuine Toyota parts. Have the receipts to prove it.

Dash is in excellent condition. no cracks.

Floor is in great condition. Original AM Radio which works.

All gages. horn. and lights work excellent.

All seats and Drivers seat are original and in great condition.  

Doors are all original and in excellent condition.

All glass is original. windshield is in excellent condition.  All windows roll up smoothly.  

All weather stripping needs to be replaced

Paint is 35 years old and shows signs of sun damage on the hood especially. but adds a nice patina to the FJ.

Bumpers are clean and rust free with no dents. but does have some scratches.

All original lights in great condition.

All rain gutters are clean but faded paint .

All window rails are in great condition 

The motor and trans are in excellent condition with only 19. 13 miles on it. She runs and drives great with no smoke. no smell and no vibrations.   The new owner will be very happy with this original. one owner FJ40.

I also have the original dome light. accessory light. service manual and owners manual. tool kit. and jack that came with the vehicle.

 1978 FJ40 in excellent. practically all original. It is getting rare to find all original FJ40s for sale that haven't been modified or restored (poorly in many cases) This 40 is a true survivor and you wont find another one like it easily. It is in amazing condition! I bought this FJ40 from the original owner. He had the original pink slip from 1978. I even have all the DMV registration slips since 1978! I have all the documentation. manuals. repair manuals. and even little accessories that came with the FJ40. This is a barn find like no other. The engine starts up easily and the body is 98% rust free. I have documented the surface rust which is completely cosmetic. There is NO bubbling anywhere on the paint!

The hood was subjected to the most wear as it sat in under a tarp then in the sun for many years. That being said the original owner would start it up monthly and drive into town just to make sure it was mechanically sound. This FJ was used as a hunting vehicle in California for all of its life. Meticulously maintained. as the documentation will support that. This engine has 19. 00 ORIGINAL MILES. which is unheard of for this old of an FJ40. There is no rust under the original rubber mat. I just recently put a new set of BFGoodrich All Terrians size 30x9. 5R15 including the spare tire.

I will also include the US Military Jerry Cans that mount to the sides and rear of the vehicle. Other added accessories include an auxiliary tank under the rear of the chasis. and a CB radio from the 70's.

Mechanically this FJ40 is in excellent condition. It has had no mechanical alterations. With only 19. 14 miles. to start it and drive it is what I'd like to think is as close to driving a new one as possible. It starts up and runs great. The entire drivetrain is tight and in excellent condition.  

There aren't many negatives with this FJ40. but the 2 items I would point out is that the Jerry can bracket in the back is bolted to the body. and the exhaust pipe is different as the auxiliary tank took some of the original piping locations. Looks factory though with the exception to the mounting.   

I've taken lots of pictures and they speak to the condition of the 40. There are no surprises and I'm confident that the buyer will be more than satisfied with it in person. The Land Cruiser is at my place in California. I will be glad to help arrange shipping for the buyer if necessary.
