The all monocoque constructed MG BGT surely needs no
introduction. With a production run lasting from 1962 to 1980 this
was one of Abingdon's largest production sports cars.

It is a pleasure to present this MG BGT which has been in singular
ownership for over 30 years during which time it has undergone long
term restoration to a very high standard. It was never the vendor's
intention to part with the car; however. due to a change of
circumstances. the car is now available and completed to the
standard you see today.

The restoration consisted of a bare metal strip with repairs to
the shell carried out where required which included a detailed
underside. The panel fit demonstrates the MG's quality and
strength. To complement the coachwork. which has been finished in
Old English White. the Rostyle wheels (including the spare) have
been stripped and finished in the original colour and shod with new
165/14 tyres.

Mechanically. the engine was stripped and the bottom end
overhauled by Zebedee and Powney of Calne. with the top end
completed. and including a new Kent camshaft. by Hurley's of Bath.
A full stainless steel exhaust system. including the manifold. has
also been fitted. The brakes and suspension were overhauled with
the inclusion of new leaf springs at the rear and re-conditioned
lever arm dampers all around. A full list of all the re-conditioned
and replaced items. reside within the extensive history file.

The interior has been treated to the same high standard as the
rest of this MG with a full re-trim having been carried out. br/>including replacement carpets and headlining. The seats were
stripped. the frames powder coated. new foams and webbing fitted
and finished with leather facings.

Other works carried out to WBK 359L are too numerous to list here
but can be found within the history file. together with a
photographic record of the restoration. Also accompanying the
history file are a 1972 Driver's Handbook. the original tool kit
and the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirmation of date
of manufacture; this being August 1972.

This MG BGT is a testament to the vendor's determination to
complete a restoration to a high standard which now may be
reassuringly enjoyed by the lucky new owner.
