1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible

One of only 1. 11 383 Auto Road Runner Convertibles built for the year! Original Broadcast Sheet! Finished in beautiful Burnished Bronze Metallic! Power steering and a 3. 91 rear end! Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 1969!

The 1968 Plymouth Road Runner was launched with the intention of taking the muscle car back to its roots. After paying Warner Brothers $50. 00 to use the Road Runner name and another $10. 00 to develop the distinct “beep-beep” horn. the Road Runner was released as a no-frills. big engine variant of its stripped down Belvedere. Originally available as a coupe only. early models were built even without carpet with the objective of low cost and weight. By the middle of 1968. a handsome hardtop was unveiled. The smallest engine available in a Road Runner was a 383 and the car came standard with a 4-speed manual on the floor. Bone stock. the car could do a quarter mile in 13. 5 seconds and over 100 mph! The 1969 models continued to impress. while offering new trim. equipment and engines. Also new for 1969 was the introduction of a convertible. which sold in very limited numbers and joined its stable mates as Motor Trend's 1969 Car of the Year!

We are super excited to offer this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible! Finished in a rather uncommon shade of Burnished Bronze Metallic over Tan Cloth/Vinyl interior. this handsome Road Runner hustles down the road with its original. numbers matching 383ci engine and TorqueFlite transmission. All VIN numbers match all trim tags and would indicate that this car was equipped with the following options: 383ci 4-barrel hi-po V8. 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. 3. 91 hi-po rear end. power steering. 26 inch radiator. driver side-view mirror. 3-speed wipers. belt moldings and 2-watt AM radio.

The car was a late '68 build. rolling off the production line in St. Louis 10/11/1968. sequence number 79. 59. We have the build sheet to verify authenticity of the car and its options. The odometer is showing 32. 63 miles. which we have no ability to verify. If we were to guess. it appears the car has been painted rather recently. as well as a new top fitted. The undercarriage presentation. while not done yesterday is very presentable. with new exhaust. bushings. various front/rear suspension components and front floor pans. The exterior of the car is very tidy. with great chrome and very good interior. The car fires right up and makes for quite the enjoyable boulevard cruiser. particularly with a 3. 91 rear end. For the Mopar enthuisiast. this car is a unique opportunity to get into one of the muscle car era's rarest convertibles…with only 2. 28 Road Runner convertibles built in 1969. this car is one of only 1. 11 383 Auto cars and likely even more rare with its given options. It is ready to be enjoyed immediately! Please don't hesitate to call us with any additional questions! Thanks for looking!
