Ford Thunderbird-1946-concours condition

Every now and again we find a close to concours car . This 1955 Tbird is very close . It is of show standard . We never describe a car as faultless as we dont think it exists but this is pretty close . The restoration took approx 10 years in New York and was completed approx 10 years ago . The car has done approx 1500 miles since . Being used for shows etc. The car drives superb having had everything done mechanically . ngine rebuild . earbox rebuild. Brakes . uspension etc etc . The car drives to all shows without fault . This is as far as you would want to go before the car becomes a trailer queen. It has a very interesting history . This 55 Tbird was bought new by a man that worked for Howard Hughes. When this man passed away it was handed to his sister who kept it till 1972 . It was then laid dormant in a barn . The third owner then set to a 10 year restoration investing 45. 00 in parts alone . The car was restored to concourse standards using all correct parts and retaining the original 6 volt electrics etc . The only two modern upgrades were the electric fuel pump and an electronic ignition in the original distributor . Not only was every nut and bolt taken off they were replaced with stainless ones . That says it all really . The 55 tbird is an icon of the fifties and this is up there with the best . It is one of the few cars that looks as good with the optioanl hardtop as it does with the roof down . Either way its a stunner. This car has won many shows in the states . ut has only been in the UK approx a year and not had its chance to shine yet
Engine & Transmission
The original engine has had a full rebuild approx 1500 miles ago along with the original auto box. It runs superb with no issues at all . The only deviation from original is electric fuel pump and electronic ignition in the original dizzy. The engine bay is super clean and close to concourse standard
Wheels. Tyres & Brakes
The original wheels and trims are all in 1st class order with now dents etc . This option really suits this 55 . These trims were a top of the range option as opposed to the spun stainless ones.
Exterior
The bodywork is arrow straight . he paint is good enought to dive into . The brightwork has either been restored or replaced and is as new . The hood etc again is as new
Interior & Equipment
The black and white interior is again excellent . It has the option of electric windowa and electric seats . ep 1955 and electric seats . mazing . As you would expect it all works .
