For sale a genuine 1972 Mercedes SLC which has been modified to be an honored if not feared street pounder. I have owned this car for several years. I have aquired the long list of parts and pieces to build this one off coupe. If you take time to look up this particular vehicle type you will find it is a limited production first year body style that Mercedes enthusiasts have come to identify wiht. the actual wheel base is very similar to our own beloved 1969 camaro and the body height is nearly identical as well. I have and do personally drive this car to various shows and though it has not won any prizes. I have never been asked or have I parked near a similar car. It is very unique and eye catching at every event.  I chose this car and body style for unique appeal and as it is a 72 it qualifies as nostalgia for the street shows and the strip competition.

Now to answer some uninevitable questions and more to come. The car began as a grey market Mercedes not sold in this country new. the original engine is long gone but was a 3. 5 liter with trigger point type fuel injection.  My original intent was to retoere the car for my old age classic. however the old age came and the classic went.  As stated I have doen 90% or better of all modifications. I am very familiar wiht this car and every part on it so feel free to ask the why whens and wahts of this street rod.  Here is a short list of modifications. The car is channeled as opposed to having frame ties. so it is low.

From front to rear. lets begin with the ultra rare AMG front air dam. yes original era AMG racing. behind that is a Mustang II independent suspension with 2" dropped spindles. 5 lug rotors and stainless steel "A" arms . This is controlled be a flaming river manual rack and pinion   Next we have a 3 core aluminum radiator from Summit racing. Behind that is a vintage 1967 427 BBC with oval port iron heads topped with an edelbrock aluminum intake and an 850 CFM summit carb.  That is hooked to a tremec 6 speed (double overdrive) via an 11" hydraulic clutch. The differential is a 9" narrowed Ford disc brake with 353 open gears. The wheels are obviously weld Pro stars 5" front and 12" rear. the rear suspension consists of Competition engineering 4 link wiht coil overs.  I am not certain of the tire size but the rims are 15" diameter. The trunk has been renovated and now has a 20 gallon Summit fuel cell and twin electric fuel pumps. the interior has been completely renovated and the rear seat no longer exists due to the 4 link installation. However unlike most pro street cars. this car is equipped with a rear trap door that allows for inspection and adjustment of the 4 link without ever raising the car.

I want to make it clear this car is not for the faint of heart or the fool who wants to go fast. This car will most likely top out around 180 mph but still retains a great acceleration factor due to its light weight the suspension the big block and the 6 speed. It certainly gives me a grin every time I romp on it.   I have never raced this car and have probably put less that 1000 miles on it since I have owned it. as stated i got old and the car got finished. i have really liked the factof the 6 speed a very good though expensive choice. The first 4 gears are as sweet as an m-21 and the other two are just glorious on the high way. i will caution for this engine to be in its efficient power range the car must be at or near 75 mph before 6th gear is applicable?? Yes it is that way wiht a . 5 overdrive gear.

So you may take the parts as a guage for the price of the car. Add up the retail and forget the labor engineering and modifications to bring it all together to justify your bid.
