1977 MG B Roadster - Brooklands Green

1977 MGB Roadster – Brooklands Green – 1798cc

Have had it ten years and been steadily restoring over this time with only a few mainly cosmetic bits left to do.

 Selling due to loss of garage space and I have also had 4 children whilst fixing it up and now have more need for cash value of the car than I do a two seater! 

Just over 90k on clock. Has been SORN for 4 years and kept garaged for this time whilst I tried to find time to finish off the last few bits and bobs. Prior to that it was only out in dry weather following a major overhaul in 2006 (Thousands spent lots of receipts). Loads of historic paperwork – old MOTs and more receipts

Rock solid bodywork with full sill replacements done in 2006 which included replacement of almost entire underside of car at the same time by specialist welders! All new panels coated with Wurth stonechip and corrosion protection in and out. Also Waxoyled since. Originally a rubber bumpered car now has the Sebring fibreglass valances front and back which reduce weight of car considerably (also look more sporty as per photos). Fittings are intact beneath the valances should you wish to revert to rubbers.   Lower half of bodywork resprayed 2007 following rebuild

Full engine overhaul also 2006 with unleaded head fitted. Started first time after 6 months in the garage! Twin SU carbs with K&N pancake filters. Electronic alternator and fuel pump for increased reliability. Also has a kenlowe hotstart so can be plugged into mains to preheat engine (reduces wear and also means you have lovely hot air in the cockpit straight away).

New radiator. fuel tank. lots of electrics. starter. dynamo. new battery last year

Suspension fully replaced and uprated.   Adjustable gas shocks to back and parabolic springs on lowering kit. Front fitted with uprated shocks. Bridgestone tyres all with good tread.

Interior in good nick. Motolite wooden steering wheel. new carpet throughout cockpit.  Vinyl seats and door interiors.

Lots of other bits included in sale. Full and half tonneau and rods. wheel lock. carb recharger set. colour tune set. lots of books. Spare set of carbs which I never got around to rejigging. extra cooling fan.

Great fun car and actually pretty reliable given its age - I used it as my only transport before its overhaul for 3 years with few problems .

Sporty looks and makes a great noise – summers coming!!

bad bits – as photos

Small areas of surface rust on upper part of car which are of cosmetic concern only example in photos. Bonnet has some dotted surface rust. Similar on lower aspect of doors and area beneath quarter lights which needs some filler on drivers side door. front valance has some stone chips. Few evenings with sandpaper and a can of spraypaint will fix most of this.

Small dent  drivers side front wing – suspect could be pulled out

Small tears in hood as pictures – remains waterproof

Alloys in need of cosmetic attention where paint is blistered but solid otherwise.

Small tear on interior cover of passenger side door

Some slight hazing in corner of laminated windscreen – mentioned on pre purchase inspection in 2004 and has not progressed at all since then
