Very reasonable reserve on this car so bid to win!!

Its hard to believe that cars like this still exist. but the recent Lambrecht auction has proven that in spite of naysayers. critics and inflated urban legends. low mileage. vintage cars can still be found and this is a perfect example of such a rare find.  This is a documented. original 10k mileage car! I myself doubted it when the seller told me so over the phone. however after a thorough inspection I believed and knew it to be true.

This 1961 Rambler Classic Super was purchased new right here in Mt Vernon. Washington on April 13th. 1961 by Clyde Bridgeman @ Don's Motors. also known as. Valley Motors at the time. It has remained right here in Skagit County the remaining 53 years of its life. I have the original sales contract. owners manual. as well as the original ignition. trunk key and optional. factory locking gas cap key. The original paper decal is still intact on the trunk lid!

On July 3rd. 1978 the car was documented in the owners manual with only 10. 09 miles showing on the odometer. One month later a gas receipt in the glove box dated. August. 978 reveal the last time the car had fuel added to the tank. For reasons unknown. the car was then parked in dry storage for the next 36 years. Fast forward to the present when the opportunity presented itself for me to purchase the car. As stated. I was skeptical of the original mileage claim. however when I saw the overall condition of the car I immediately knew the original mileage assertion was legit. To compound my confirmation of the original mileage. I inspected all four of the BF Goodrich Silvertown bias ply tires and observed all four of the dry rotted tires were in fact the original 1961 date coded tires. This alone was proof that this was not a 110k mileage car. I further observed the original 1961 dated spare tire in the trunk. which has never been on the ground. Although not a professional appraiser. I have been buying/selling collector cars for over 25 years and this little Rambler is in the Best of the Best category for original. unrestored cars I have ever seen and certainly owned.

The lack of wear on the steering wheel. dash knobs. seat cushion. clutch and brake pedal and original rubber floor mat further made me a believer. The car is basically showroom fresh inside. The speedo cluster. bright work on the dash. chrome shifter and original glass all reveal how little wear there is on this car. You have to see it to believe it!

The all original six shooter under the hood starts on the second pump of the gas and runs quiet and smooth as a sewing machine. The three speed transmission shifts like butter through all of the gears. Sans the fuel gauge. everything on the car works. lights. signals. reverse lights. wipers. etc. The car has had recent tune up items addressed by ASE certified techs. to ensure it is roadworthy. such as a valve adjustment. carb rebuild. new fuel pump. new radiator. T-stat etc. The car motors down the road just like a scene out of an old classic film.

True to its American heritage the AMC invokes thoughts of yesteryear and thumbs up from passerby's every city block you travel. It is an absolute joy to drive. With the dry rotted original tires I have been reluctant to exceed speeds of 65MPH for my own safety. The car is equipped with the optional Overdrive transmission. however the cable is frozen in the Off position. The car sometimes acts like it is starving for fuel at highway speeds. however if the Overdrive is engaged it will likely cure this ill. as the engine RPM's will be lowered.

With the exception of the passenger fender and doors all of the paint on the car is original factory paint. It is unknown why these three panels were repainted. The original paint is in excellent condition and shows very well for its age. I would score the original paint above average due to the fact it was stored indoors its entire life. The chrome bumpers front and rear are also above average with only mild imperfections. No bends or egregious dents in them. The grill is true and straight. 90% of the exterior bright work is in excellent shape with only a few them suffering small dings. (driver's front fender) but they shine like the sun. as opposed to being milky and faded like most. All of the glass is original and it is perfect in every way.

Peering inside you'll notice the interior chrome is flawless. the seat cushions have zero rips or tears in them front or rear. The front bench seat still has the factory tag hanging from it. Truly astonishing! The rear package tray is metal and the original paint is perfect. Zero rust anywhere! The top of the rear seat shows no sun damage whatsoever. The rubber floor mat is showing some cracks in the rear seat area from fatigue. but overall is still very nice. The door panels are mint and in fact one of the panels still had the plastic on it prior to me purchasing it. but it was removed before I purchased it. The window cranks. door handles and integral ashtrays all have flawless chrome. The car has never been smoked in. The headliner is mint.

Finally. looking in the trunk. please note the consistent theme throughout this car. No rust!! Look at that floor! You wont believe how clean it is in there. That's all original paint boys and girls and as noted earlier. that's the original. factory installed. date coded spare tire and rim. A car like this is very hard to find and rarely is available for sale because of their originality. If you want a turn key. rolling museum of American History. this is your chance. You don't have to be an AMC fan to appreciate this little cutie. Just get in and drive and start winning trophies for "Most original" at any event you enter.

If I've missed anything or if you have additional questions please chime in.  I have hundreds of photos of this car. so let me know if you want something specific.   Also. I have sold over fifteen classic cars on e-bay and shipped them worldwide. including Australia. Saudi Arabia. The Netherlands. etc. so bid with confidence.    Good luck Boys!
