1973 Triumph Spitfire Base 1.5L

Sale price: $9,000.00 make an offer

Seller's notes: "This Mimosa Yellow Spitfire was completely disassembled and professionally restored. The vehicle had been in storage for about 20 years and had all original components and matching numbers. It now has just over 1400 miles on the odometer. The car, in my opinion, is close to museum quality. It now has Weber carburation but original(restored) carb, air cleaner and intake are included. I am not a Triumph expert but will do my best to honestly answer any questions."

I bought this Spitfire from an attorney friend and had it completely disassembled and restored professionally. (please see pictures) I have driven it two summers and only to car shows. dinner. or to the golf course. The black top has only been up twice but the car has never seen rain. It has been garaged since I have had it. but it deserves to be on the road and driven. The engine was completely rebuilt by Automotive Machine in Eau Claire and now takes regular unleaded gas. The chassis was professionally restored by Eau Claire British Car Company and the body was removed. disassembled. and restored to better then new in Altoona. WI. The transmission and rear gears are in excellent condition and were not disassembled. The top was completed by Auto Top Shop in Eau Claire. The car drives smoothly at 55 mph. I have never attempted higher speeds but the previous owner said he had it much higher.

I did not put the chrome windshield trim on the car but it is included. The tires are new. the engine compartment and trunk detailed. and the original jack is intact. There are a couple of issues that I did not address during restoration.  One odometer trip wheel is hung up. the right turn signal does not always cancel. and the seatbelts do not retract perfectly. The return springs are good but the folded top impinges on the shoulder belt. (poor design)

I do have a reserve on the car but certainly do not expect to get anything near what the restoration cost. ( My wife and I were married in 1973 so it was an emotional purchase and restoration) I do have receipts and CD's of the restoration. Please review the pictures closely. I am not a Triumph expert and have seen a variety of componants. including the seats and dash. that are different on cars of the same year.   I am the third owner and this is the way the car came to me.

The winning bidder must submit $1000 payment to paypal within 48 hours and final payment in cashiers check (or other approved method) before the vehicle is transfered. The buyer is responcible for all transportation costs or pick up in Eau Claire. WI. I am a serious seller and will accommodate reasonable requests.

I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT A BIDDER. WHO MET THE RESERVE. HAS WITHDRAWN HIS BIDS. HE DID NOT LOOK AT THE CAR NOR DID HE CALL ME WITH QUESTIONS BEFORE THE RETRACTION. EVALUATION GUIDES LIST THE CAR AT UP TO $15. 00 VALUE AND IT IS AS DESCRIBED. I AM ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT THE BIDDER AND WILL RELIST IF NECESSARY AFTER THIS AUCTION ENDS. Thank you for looking.
