Seller's notes: "Great turn key driver and summer cruiser, older restoration holding up nicely but has been driven and has some minor chips and normal wear and tear. When possible its best to view in person or ask questions as needed so buyer has realistic expectaions of Cars condition (i.e. its not a frame off or fresh restoration and is a 45 year old car), seller wants new owner to enjoy this Olds as much as we have and for a fraction of what it costs to restore one."

This auction is for a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible. if you want a classic convertible muscle car that's ready to enjoy this summer this could be the car for you. Restoration is a little older and shows some wear but she maintains good luster and presents very good as a Dailey driver or weekend cruiser. I have been driving the car regularly since the weather got nice and it's been very reliable so I believe it can be driven daily and on long rides as anyone might want.

I hate to see her go but I am selling this and some of my project cars to raise money for a new garage. I wanted to make sure it was in great condition prior to selling it so I brought it into third party garage and asked them to go over it completely so I could sell it with confidence. they went through it and ended up doing a bunch of preventative maintenance which should please the winning bidder.

The started by going through the whole brake system. cleaned and adjusted everything and even replaced the front and rear e-brake cables. /strong>

Replaced front wheel bearings and races.

Replaced Front and rear Coil springs and all 4 shocks

Replaced inner and outer tie rod ends and sway bar end links.

Engine oil change. Chassis lube. and Transmission flush and fluid change

Flush radiator and pressure test coolant system (new water pump last year)

New Gas tank and Sending unit

Replaced choke stove and adjusted carb

Installed new wiper blades

Performed alignment

Mounted and balanced new tires on recently procured ss1 rally wheels. installed new lug nuts set as well. (NOTE: car is sold with one set of tires and rims. factory style or mags as pictures but not both. so unless specified before end of auction it will be delivered with chrome mags as seen in many of teh photos)

We did this and much more just to be sure it would be reliable for the next owner and that we would have a good transaction. She rides and handles great and has a good tight feel in the steering and brakes.

As you can see it's a rare convertible ordered and kept simple and reliable. 350. 2bbl. TH350 trans. no A/C or real high performance options that compromise reliability (although she has no problem braking the tires loose if you hit the gas a little hard). This is what I liked about it. being able to relax and enjoy the top down and still get decent gas mileage with good performance and reliability.

Options: Power top works great. Alpine AM/FM CD. power brakes and steering. and split bench with center arm rest

This one doesn't need anything for you to enjoy but there is always room for improvement. There are a couple minor rips in the rear seat. the Top has the typical small rips in the pinch points that are common in GM A-Body tops of this era. Top is in good serviceable shape otherwise and functions great. car has no current leaks which is nice when you caught in the rain or are forced to endure driveway or parking lot time in bad weather. Steering wheel has a crack. The car has an older paint job with a few flaws but as you can see from the pictures the car is in great shape inside and out. Body seems to have been restored well. I don't see any signs of rust or bad bodywork but invite buyers to view and inspect in person.

As always with used cars this one is sold as is where is but as you can see from my feedback I am very strait in my descriptions and am always happy to discuss with potential buyers. This car was restored at some point in the last 10 years so it has had repair work including suspension. frame. interior and body work. the color combination was changed when restored but it was difficult to determine as the silver paint job was very thorough and complete. The Dash board is very clean and detailed. The trunk is also clean and detailed. The engine compartment is detailed but has minor signs of ware (i. e. some paint is burned off the intake and exhaust manifolds and some areas are a little dusty from spring pollen and from being driven under normal use) The engine and tranny and rear have all been serviced and are functioning well and appear to be original to the car (numbers/dated matching) but please feel free to inspect for yourself before end of auction to confirm any authenticity questions you have.

I think the Pictures represent the car well so look carefully and if you have any questions please let me know. I want any bidders or buyers to feel very confident in the description and condition of the car.

The underside is pretty clean for a car that has been driven. seems like it was undercoated or painted when it was restored and I touched up some small rust spots where it had chipped off. Car has been well taken care of as far as I can tell so I think it's a great turn key driver ready for family fun or trips to the golf course.

Other notes:

So in summary this car is not a 442 or w-30 worth huge money but it is a very correctly configured and certainly well maintained rare olds convertible so purists should find the car pleasing at a fraction of the cost of its 442 big brother. I do think the new owner could enter this in the stock class at shows and with a little work it would probably do OK in a show field but for me I bought it to drive for fun. Would be a good car for rallies or long distance touring and any cruise events but please if you're looking for a flawless trailer queen that is ready to go to auction or high end show this is not it so adjust your search criteria up into the 40-100K and save us both the trouble.

Pick up and shipping are the responsibility of the winning bidder but I will work with the winner to coordinate and if agreed upon before end of auction can help with local transport as the car is registered and can be driven. Also the car is sold with state of CT transfer of ownership (registration) and if requested by the buyer a Q1 CT state bill of sale. Please ask any questions or discuss special arrangements with me before the end of auction to avoid problems. No financially challenged bidders please.

Again I encourage serious bidders to view the car in person but understand that is not always possible so I will try to help answer any questions bidders might have.

And remember the car is Sold where is as is with no warranty expressed or implied. Again I encourage all serious buyers to inspect and drive the car. You can see by the feedback that I am a very honest E-Bayer so call with questions and maybe you can drive this classic at about half of what you would pay to restore a similarly equipped car. Thanks and happy bidding. John ( 203-631-0184 )
