1972 Triumph Spitfire Convertible with Vitesse 2. 0 Straight Six Engine
I am reluctantly selling my Triumph Spitfire. as I no longer have time to complete the project. I bought this as a bereavement purchase. from a colleague who's Grandad (the former owner) died. The previous owner used it regularly. however it had spent a year in a barn (very dry). The car was. at some point in her life. resprayed blue (not sure of original colour). and has a black interior with a cream roof.
Obviously the most unique feature of this car is the presence of the 2. 0 Vitesse engine - it's a straight six cylinder. and is so smooth and powerful. especially in such a light car! The conversion was done professionally. and it's a great fit.
I have completed the following things:- Refurbished the Carburettors. with full parts kits (Twin Stromberg CD150S)- Fitted an Electric Fuel Pump (HūCO)- Replaced the Air Filters with Stainless Steel Pancake Style- Oil change & replacement filters (effectively she's had a full service)- Tidied up a few bits and pieces - lights. cleanliness. etc
To get her ready for MOT she needs:- Replacement Track Rod Ends- Replacement CV Boots- A new Electric Horn
To finish her and get her up to full spec. she needs:- Some paintwork. The original paint job looks as though it was done by a monkey. wearing sunglasses. in the dark. The bonnet has been modified to include a bulge (so it fits over the straight six engine). and I think the respray was done at the same time. - Some interior gluing on the carpets- The throttle pedal has excessive play- She's got some excess wires that could do with removing - a stereo was fitted at some point (speakers still present) but has since been removed.
The car runs. and sounds absolutely amazing! She burbles away happily. and when you rev the engine the 6 cylinders sound superb. She is fully rolling. drives absolutely fine. and has such a small list to finish her off I'm sad to be having to sell her. The pictures are her while we were doing the work.
Notable features/included in sale:- Four speed gearbox (no overdrive)- Map reading light :-)- Carbon effect dash (fitted)- Walnut effect dash (brand new in box)- New Door cards (Brand new not fitted)- Upgraded suspension and running gear- Braided brake hoses- Drivers side has multi harness- Roll bars fitted- Original Triumph indoor cover available- Lockable boot- Wheel lock- Spare wheel- Manual Choke- 12v Cigarette Lighter/Accessory socket (needs fault diagnosing)- Spitfire Multispark ignition- New coil pack with original still present- Upgraded HT leads- Spare oil filters- Spare classic oil- Lead Replacement liquid- 'Deep Dish' style alloy wheels with bigger tyres- Tonneau cover (needs adjusting to fit round roll bar)
The car currently costs me £90 per year to insure fully comprehensive. and is tax exempt. so a great long term purchase.
Viewings available in Southampton. I still intend to try and get her up and running. so it is possible that I sort the track rods etc out and get her MOT'd before the auction ends! No offers will be accepted via e-mail; either you view it and make an offer on the spot. or you click 'best offer' and enter into an eBay contract.
£100 deposit on clicking buy it now/offer accepted. with balance due before she leaves - either via cash. bank transfer. or PayPal.
If you need her transported anywhere - I can strongly recommend www. shiply. co. uk; I brought her back from Somerset for a grand total of £112!
Any questions please do e-mail.
