Introduced in 1952 Donald Healey's Austin-Healey 100 had its 3-speed gearbox upgraded to a full 4-speed. still with overdrive on the top two gears. in 1955's BN2. The BN2 also received slightly larger front wheel arches and two-tone paint as an optional extra. Still a rugged and capable sports car. it was ideally suited to rigorous competition and has a loyal following today among enthusiastic drivers who appreciate its lightness. responsive handling and the torquey power of its 2. 66 liter four. an engine originally developed by Austin for light and medium duty trucks. Many consider the BN2 to be the last of the pure. raw sports cars to come out of Donald Healey's partnership with the British Motor Corporation and they are relatively scarce with only about 4. 00 built compared with just over 10. 00 of the earlier BN1. This 1955 example was fully restored by a very knowledgeable Healey enthusiast who specifically intended it to be used as a sharp. attractive car for tours and rallies. It is finished in red with chrome bumpers. chrome wire wheels and blackwall radial tires. The black leather seats are piped in red and equipped with racing seatbelts. Interior equipment includes a banjo spoke steering wheel and tonneau cover. The engine bay is very clean and accurately presented. The completely rebuilt 2660 cc engine is topped by a polished aluminum valve cover. This 100/4 runs and drives beautifully. looks the part with its folding windscreen and gorgeous cosmetics. and will make a reliable and rewarding event car.
