Rover Mini Cooper 1998 1. 3i Multipoint Injection (MPI) For Sale


This car was bought in July 2013 with an MOT and running well apart from a puff of blue smoke on start-up and a few bubbles of rust.  

In September 2013 I decided to take the car off the road to repair a small area of rust under the front windscreen and the result has been a complete strip down and rebuild over the winter period.

 The first owner had the car from new to 1 year old. the previous owner to me had it for 14 years and I have owned it for the last year. I took the car off the road in September last year. The car has had a complete strip down and rebuild using new stainless steel nuts and bolts for durability

Over the course of the restoration the following has been replaced:


Heritage Body Panels used: 

Dash Rail (Interior under the window)

Full Scuttle Panel (under the window)

2 Wings

Front Panel

2 x A Panels

Both Inner and Outer Sills

Bonnet

Rear Subframe Mounting Point

A full respray was completed in March 2014 including a bare metal respray on the roof. The car was stripped including the subframes and fuel lines removed. The bitumen material lining the floor was removed to ensure that no rust was evident on the floor pans and then the shell was undersealed and stone chipped inside and out for full protection.

 The shell was then painted inside and out (with the exception of the boot) and then the interior was lined with FatMat (and equivalent of Dynamat).

Overall:

 The car has done 42300 miles and as you will expect from the above is in excellent condition. This is not a concours example but it is very good indeed. Parts have been carefully sourced using genuine where possible or manufactured reproductions using original tooling where available. The bumpers for example were £120 and I waited over a month for them to manufactured.

 The car was HPI checked prior to my purchase and came back never being involved in an insurance write off. HPI clear so please bid with confidence


A few points to be aware of: 

The steering wheel needs to be refurbished - I did buy a refurbished wheel off here but unfortunately it turned out to be a cheap job and it has since pealed with no useThe headlining whilst new could have been installed a little tighter but this doesn't detract away from what is overall a well finished carThere is also an oil leak to the timing pulley - it will simply need the timing cover loosening and the pulley torqueing up then the timing cover retightening - this is an easy job and due to the new pulley oil seal not seating 100% when it was replacedThe car is currently SORN - an MOT was conducted on the 27th May 2014 and passed with an advisory to the rear handbrake cable effectiveness. this is simply a spanner adjustment and will be done when boughtThe car can be taxed subject to additional feeThe tracking will need doing


A Full and comprehensive photo rebuild will be provided to the new owner.
