Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 730 votes
The jeep gods were smiling on Government 80 inch wheelbase reconnoissance car 9961 when it was delivered March 12. 1941. For three quarters of a century. while most of its brethren quietly dissolved into history. it would live on to be one of the best of the few surviving examples of its kind. Powerplant is a Ford tractor engine with a 3 speed non-synchronized transmission. Uncluttered by pioneer tools. gas can. blackout light and rifle scabbard. the GP is the quintessential scout car. It has had two owners in the past 25 years and was driven very little. The previous owner was a veteran who had a cosmetic restoration done with markings of his old unit in The Redball Express. He installed new McCreary tires. the sprue hairs are not yet worn off. may have flat spots for sitting long periods. I believe all sheet metal is original. body is very straight with some small dings. I detected very little filler. The hat channel looks solid. A hinged cover for a trailer socket was installed on rear panel. It runs and drives good. the steering wheel has very little play. The wiring is frayed and needs replacing. brakes need work. Matching numbers on block. frame and dash plates. Holley 847D carburetor. Correct distributor. Toolbox latches Parts missing include horn. air filter housing. oil filter housing. rear seat. the front bumper is not correct. The drivers seat has a weld repair. It has four combat rims and one solid. 9961 is one of the last series one production jeeps. serial numbers ending at 10000. Located near louisville. Ky Payment must be made with cash in person only. If reserve is not met. the high bid may be considered.
