Hello Ebay. Here I have a 1986 California Custom Cab Toyota Pickup and if that isn't rare enough it is a factory 22RE Turbo. I have just put a ton of work into this beauty. I really hate to sell it but I am not currently working my regular job so I can't afford to be keeping my work. I buy and sell Toyota 4x4s quite a bit. Kind of a hobby. So I am kind of the go-to guy in this area for Yotas.  The Custom Cab is a rare option that was offered from the factory. Out here in California there are a few around although good luck getting your hands on one and again this one with the 22RTE motor is quite a rare find.

So I picked this up in a sad puke teal color. I knew right away that needed to go. I stripped the truck and painted it the factory Toyota red it originally came with. There is no evidence of the former paint every nook and cranny has been done.   Many details have been dealt with. I wanted this truck to look good and run and operate like new.  If I didn't like it I just bought it new. like the Windshield. grill. emblem. light rings. handles. nbsp;rubber. etc.   Tires are in great shape.

Engine has been completely rebuilt. Every nut and bolt scrubbed clean. New oil pump. water pump. timing chain. pistons and rings. bearings. head bolts. valves. etc. Flywheel surfaced and a new clutch installed. New turbo installed. See pictures of the motor before it was dropped in. This engine runs excellent and has a lot of power for a 22R. You can definitely feel the turbo kick in and pull.

What else have I done?  Well whatever I saw wrong. Currently as I write this I am out of full time work. nbsp;family is broke. we need to pay bills. and I need to recover on some of my projects. This Toyota was nearly complete when I ran out of money and need to call it quits. So at the end I will tell you what it still needs. I went through the front end and all joints are in great shape. It has a 3" lift on it. I didn't like the rear end so I pulled it and rebuilt both sides. Pressed I new wheel bearings. inner and outer seals. added new wheel cylinders and brakes and we have virtually a new rear end. Center support was bad so I pulled the drive shaft. replaced a U joint and installed a new center support. 5 speed Transmission is smooth and quiet so I didn't see the need to rebuild it.  I know I am forgetting things so I will come back and add where needed.

I didn't do much to the interior. For one it is not in bad shape. It has a bench seat that is covered. It is a bench style with easy access backs and an arm rest so it should be kept and I would re-upholster it. Rear I left empty because I could put seats back there and you may want sound not to mention if I kept this vehicle I would probably put in a new carpet and matching headliner. The headliner in the back is worn from the sun. Dash pad has a crack and imo deserves a new one. It does have a working Viper alarm on it and power door locks as well as a power rear slide window.

Currently not pictured is the rear cap. I haven't painted it and will have it painted by the time this closes. It is the original cap that came with it and it also came with the "Camping Kit" Option which is a series of carpeted wood that goes in the bed of the truck and is a storage/bed system. Another factory option. You can see the cap on the picture of the truck before it was restored. Ill try and get those pics up soon.

Bid with confidence. This truck is solid and will get you anywhere in the country with ease. Flying in from another state? Im a Toyota lover and you obviously are too. Once you buy a Toyota from me your part of the family. Whatever it takes Ill help you out. You should expect a pleasant experience. a nice visit to Ca. a sweet ride home and the envy of every Toyota lover in the country. This is probably the rarest of the Toyota pickups. Is the red 1986 still available for sale ?

Question about turbo:

I live in Oakland and I visit the mountains frequently, which my regular 22re handles beautifully with the exception of a couple of crazy driveways.

I haul loads of horse poo, lumber, logs infrequently.

I was told that city driving a turbo would damage some housing and other stuff. Do you agree?

I am fixated on buying a custom cab Toyota but it seems as though most are turbo.

Thanks in advance.
