1963 MG Midget Ashley GT - 1098cc

Finished in Period Iris Blue with New Black Sports Chairs Piped in traditional White with New Black Carpeting.

This Matching Numbers example was taken off the road in back in 1976 for a re-spray and remained in dry storage untill 2011 when a thorough rebuild was commissioned to create a full MG Ashley GT finished in period colours and to period specification. The project was undertaken by well respected Ashley Specialists - Moto-Build Racing and was completed in the Winter of 2011 with a full photographic record of the works undertaken.

Current MOT runs to 8th January 2014 with NO Advisory items.

The MG is finished in the period colour of Iris Blue and is fitted with an FIA Approved Roll Cage ( Supplied by Fabricage ) along with genuine Minilite Alloy Wheels. Goodyear G800 Tyres and a Derrington Style Wood Rim Steering Wheel. The Ashley Bodykit is fitted with all the period extras such as headlining. boot fill in panel and flared in Headlamp Covers .

Bodily the shell was taken back to bare metal. fitted with the Bodykit. primed. painted and reassembled by Moto-Build Racing.

Internally the carpeting is New as are the period Black & White Piped Seats and whilst many new components have been fitted during the reassembly thought has been given to clean and restore where possible the original fittings to ensure originality and a ensure a period feel.

The original engine was stripped. balanced and rebuilt replacing bearing shells and piston rings before being painted traditional BMC Green . The Carburettors were stripped cleaned and rebuilt before being retuned. All ancillaries were removed and restored to original specification; the chrome was replaced where necessary.

New Suspension was fitted along with a new exhaust. new brakes. calipers. hoses . lines etc etc to ensure a reliable vehicle.

The Car carries its original 1963 3x3 date less registration number which adds a nice period touch

Starting on the button she drives exceptionally well pulling strongly through all the gears and braking in a positive fashion. I drove the car back. from collection. some 30 miles via twisting roads and was blessed with a cold dry sunny day and can honestly say the drive was what motoring should all be about . a total joy. Stopping off for the obligatory bacon sandwich and mug of tea at the roadside the car was a total magnet and a continual talking point of much admiration.
