We are proud to present this beautiful 1955 Pontiac Star Chief convertible. This has been a garaged & pampered car. taken out on sunny weekends for the occasional cruise. It has had much work performed over recent years including paint. chrome. mechanical restoration work. etc. I will detail in the our description. This car was purchased as a special  50th wedding anniversary present. The owner had a new 55 when he started dating his wife. They did not keep the car for a long period of time. so years later they decided to find another. It showcases its correct two-tone colors and is just a very nice car. From the previous owners' desk (January. 2005)

"Here are some things done to the Pontiac prior to 2005. The carburetor is rebuilt. The fuel pump is rebuilt. The gas tank was sent off to Arizona. cleaned and sealed at Tank Review. The fuel sending unit was replaced. The starter was rebuilt. The power steering sector was removed and rebuilt. The power brakes were redone. vacuum booster and lines rebuilt. A Petronix electronic ignition was installed. The heater cores both defrost and under seat are new. The battery and hoses were replaced. The exterior was completely repainted and all chrome front and rear restored (plated). The convertible top was replaced along with the convertible pump line set and a replaced hydraulic piston. The Coker whitewall radials were installed along with new OEM-type carpeting. The transmission seals were replaced. The U-joints have been replaced front & rear. The front end sway bar bushings have been replaced. The tie rod ends have been replaced. The engine and transmission mounts have been replaced. The exhaust system was replaced. "


Also. in 2005 the shocks were replaced and the wheel cylinders were honed and brakes replaced. The rear leaf springs were replaced. shackles and bushings. Front and rear seat belts were installed.

We have receipts for the following work performed ; In 2006. the hood hinges were replaced. The continental spare tire carrier assembly was serviced. Various moldings and gaskets were replaced along with rubber weatherstrip. The front and rear seat upholstery was replaced with OEM correct type upholstery along with the door panels. The stunning wire wheels were installed in 2007 at a cost of approximately $1. 00 for the wheels alone.

1955 was a banner year for Pontiac. Although the Star Chief made its debut in the 1954 model year. It was back for '55 with a brand new design and "V8" power to boot. The paint and body are in excellent condition as is the factory bright work. This is a stunning car with few flaws to be found.

The two-tone paint is finished in Bolero Red & Castle Grey. the correct color codes this Pontiac was born with. Pontiac's Star Chief features much more standard equipment than a Chevrolet at the time. These cars even featured some equipment offered in Buicks.

The windshield was a wrap-around design. Pontiac's first application of this feature. The "Silver Streaks" bright work is unmistakably Pontiac.

Open the doors to 1955. The interior is beautifully restored to original.

The upholstery is in excellent condition.

The head rests are a very rare feature for these cars.

The dash is beautifully detailed with original gauges and bright work throughout. The paint shows well inside & out. The gauges are functional with exception of the clock.

The steering wheel is in beautiful condition. complete with the functional rim-blow horn.

The power convertible top is in great shape. fully functional & complete with a top boot.

The engine compartment houses Pontiac's first-year OHV V8 engine. the 287 cubic inch Strato-Streak. The engine compartment is detailed to original. complete with the generator charging system. Further inspection of the engine bay will confirm clean and detailed original sheet metal throughout the firewall. inner fenders and core support. This car has had much work performed over the years.

The original trim identification plate is in place. confirming the original paint & trim codes.

Pontiac's V8 debuted in 1955. just like Chevrolet's over head valve design. This designation was a 287 cubic inch powerplant rated at 200 horsepower. paired with the dual range hydramatic automatic transmission.

The undercarriage is exceptionally solid throughout. The frame and flooring is in good shape and the suspension is solid. The front floorboards have been cut and replaced. This car drives down the road as it should. The underbody is indicative of a dry-climate. garage-kept car.

The wheels of choice are beautiful show quality 15-inch wires fitted with Coker Classic Wide Whitewall Radial Tires sized at 215/75R15 all around.

The continental kit really dresses up the exterior of this classic Star Chief.

The trunk is beautifully detailed. complete with the correct mat. jacking equipment. and a full sized show quality matching wire wheel & Coker Classic Wide Whitewall Radial tires.

The pushbutton factory radio is paired with a rear-mounted power antenna.

A vintage compass is in place on the dash.

The vintage tissue dispenser is complete with the Pontiac man on display.

Non Texas residents are responsible for paying taxes in his/her state. Overseas customers will be charged a $30. 00 fee for wire transfers. We must collect a vehicle inventory tax of . 002277% and a small documentary fee of $75. 00 on ALL sales.
