Triumph Spitfire GT6 engined Convertible - The car Triumph should have built!!!!

Sale price: £4,850.00 make an offer

Car location: Castleford, United Kingdom

Seller's notes: No rust at all and looks stunning. Interior is stunning and possibly the best Spitfire interior i have seen. Mechanically the car runs perfect and starts everytime. The odd bits that in my opinion let the car down are 2 spider cracks on the bonnet (in the paint not the bonnet, see photo), Some, what look like paint runs on the bootlid and the wheels would benefit from a refurb.

Superb Spitfire GT6 Conversion.  Please do not confuse this with a standard spitfire.  This has the 2 litre straight six engine fitted from a Triumph GT6 and sounds and goes superb.  The sound. speed and torque of a GT6 with the benefit of the convertible spitfire.  What a partnership

And much more.
The car currently has road tax until end of August 2014 and MOT until April 2015.  There were NO advisories on the M. O. T.
I have not owned the car long but due to other commitments and job change i am just not getting the use out of her as i intended and it is a shame for her to be stood.  I have completed over 1000miles in her over the last couple of months and they have been most enjoyable and completely reliable.  She starts first time and runs like a dream.  Idles at junctions smoothly and pulls as a straight 6 should.  I was initially looking for a 1500 spitfire but after driving one found them to be really under powered and therefore when this car became available i knew it was the best of all words.  The engine is suited so well to the car it is an absolute joy to drive.
As i said in the summary at the top of the listing there are a few points on the car that i would do if i were keeping her.  The fibreglass bonnet has 2 areas where the paint has cracked like a spiders web (as per usual fibreglass) around 2" in diameter.  I will take photos of this and upload the pictures.  The boot looks like it has 2 paint runs in it too.  The rest of the body in my opinion is absolutely brilliant condition and as you can see from the photos looks amazing. The leading front edge (bonnet side) of the doors have some paint rub where the doors have caught the fibreglass bonnet before it was fitted properly. The wheels are missing 1 centre cap.  I was going to purchase a brand new set of wheels which are around £260 rather than find a centre cap and have the wheels refurbished.  The tyres are like new and are matching period style Firestones.  Although the chrome bumpers are certainly presentable with no unsightly areas of rust they would benefit from a re chrome to really make this car immaculate.
I know the above makes it seem like the car needs a lot of work but this is not the case.  I am a bit of a perfectionist and my wife thinks that i am just being picky but i like to write honest descriptions.  My plan was to use her as is for this summer and then in winter have the above work done.  Having spoken to the local classic bodyshop they estimate £300 for the bonnet and boot work to make perfect and the door edges.  The pictures are from 2 months ago and as the car is so you can see how presentable the car is.  Wheels would be £260 and Chrome would be about £500 so for £1000 i feel this car could be nearly concourse and then the value would likely be £7500 upwards
The car comes with a large box of spares including steering racks. track rod ends. gaskets. ultra rare windbreak. spare alternator. spare sports (loud) exhausts. haynes manuals etc etc and the other bits and bobs that you acrue with classics.  The car had a full service in March so is ready for trouble free motoring for the coming summer (when it gets here)
The interior is absolutely stunning and the best i have seen in a spitfire and i looked at a fair few before buying this car.  The leather is in great condition and the dash has a brilliant gloss to it.
The car was fully rebuilt in 2006 and the clock reset then so unfortunately i do not know the total mileage but the clock is now reading 27. 00 miles which are the miles since rebuild.  There is a box of receipts invoicing all the work carried out from the new interior. to engine conversion. to spare parts to painting etc etc.  Most of the expensive bills including the main rebuild are from specialist Yorkshire Triumph in Goole. West Yorkshire who have an excellent reputation.
The gearbox is smooth in its operation and the OVERDRIVE WORKS PERFECTLY.  The overdrive is on gears 3 and 4
I have one of my other toys for sale too (TVR Cerbera) and if that sells before the spitfire the spitfire will be kept so its a lottery really which car i keep as i cannot decide between the two.
Any questions please feel free to get in touch.
I have listed this on a classified 30 day listing as i reserve the right to remove as stated above if one of my other toys sells first.  I have added a best offer function for you to submit a best offer but please no silly offers.  I have had this car inspected and it has been commented on how clean the car is.  Boot floors. arches etc are totally rust and rot free.  I know there are cheaper spitfires but i think you will struggle to find many GT6 engined (One of the main selling points) spitfires around in as good condition and all mechanically A1.  Any inspection is more than welcome
