The goal of rebuilding this E-Type Roadster was to have a usable and dependable classic XKE Jaguar. The current owner of seven years engaged Jaguar experts to rebuild and sort the car over the past 10. 00 miles. Finished in a rare. stunning and classic color combination. the car also has beautiful paint. chrome. canvas. aluminum and leather.
The weaknesses inherent in this era of British car have all been addressed and been updated with modern technology. Most of the improvements are not visible (e. g. . transmission. starter motor. fuel pump. ignition) to the trained eye so you can be competitive in most car shows as well as enjoy driving it long distances.
The car has the original matching numbers body and engine as documented by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate: serial number: 879535. Body: R6289. Engine: RA2292-9. Built on May 31. 1963.
The following summarizes the work completed to prepare the car for high-quality street use.
ENGINE:Complete engine rebuild. Rebuilt head using OEM or better parts. Align-bore block. Custom forged Ross pistons. 9:1 + compression (9. 25). Recondition. polish and balance crank. All new bearings. Alloy flywheel. New clutch. New master clutch cylinder. Rebuilt carburetors. Pertronix electronic ignition. Electronic fuel pump. Generator fully disassembled. rebuilt and bench tested - exceeds original specs. Reduction gear starter motor. nbsp; K&N air filters. Stainless steel exhaust. Every component of the engine was disassembled. inspected. refurbished or replaced with OEM or better parts.
TRANSMISSION:Replaced original non-synchronized 4-speed gearbox with Tremec 5- speed fully synchronized gearbox. The original gearbox is not available with the car however its location and ownership is known.
COOLING SYSTEM:New maximum capacity radiator with 8 blade fan w/override switch which allows the driver to control its operation.
BRAKES:Wilwood front brakes and vented rotors. Rebuilt rear calipers. New master cylinder.
REAR:Replaced stub axle bearings & seals and reseal differential.
WHEELS:Tires upgraded to 205/70/R15 series Bridgestone with new Dayton 6” 72 spoke wheels.Original chrome wire wheels and Michelin red stripe tires are included.
INTERIOR:Seats upgraded to 4. 2 series with Connolly leather. New Wilton Wool carpets. Floor boards. tunnel and fire wall covered with Dyna Mat insulation. New vinyl dash cover. windshield pillars and console sides. Original Blaupunkt Europa radio upgraded with modern internal components. New custom fit tonneau cover. Auxiliary mechanical oil pressure gauge mounted under dash.
BODY. PAINT. CHROME:Older restoration. Paint shows light patina. but presents beautifully. Excellent panel fit. Excellent chrome.
The original seats. air cleaner assembly. starter motor. front calipers. master cylinder. Michelin red stripe tires and chrome wire wheels are included with the car as well as the jack and tool roll.
One of the many advantages of the Tremec transmission is the 5th gear which allows cruising at 80 mph the engine is only turning 2500 rpm.
The car has received recognition at local British car shows. At the Philadelphia MG Club show. “The Brits at the Village” in Lahaska. PA it won its class. Also. at the MG Keystone British Motor Gathering at Hellertown. PA the car won it's class all 5 times the car was entered.
A recent. written. market value appraisal by a certified appraiser determined the car to be a #2 car in overall condition and valued the car at $125. 00. The April 2014 Hagerty Cars That Matter Price Guide assigns a value of $128. 00 for a #2 condition 1963 Jaguar Series 1 XKE.
If an individual wanted to recreate this car. that is. locate an excellent base car in an desirable color and then add the performance. aesthetic. comfort and reliability improvements that this car has. it would be an extremely challenging task to complete at the price of this car.
