Seller's notes: The engine is running fine, and overall the vehicle is in okay condition. As an indicator of this, you may look at the more recent pictures to get an idea. It has some rust underneath. Although the tires have barely been used since fitted, the rubber looks a bit old because of it being parked in a dusty garage for so long (10 years). This has also had an effect on the paint, the metal, and the interiors.

Range Rover manufactured this vehicle with an extended chassis for the 6 wheels and. as far as we now. several were made at the time. After leaving the Range Rover factory. it went to Car-Michael of Wooster for extra work ie. fitted with a glass fibber body and modified as a shooting vehicle - this model was modified for its owner who wanted a jeep for shooting game on the moors (large stretch of private land). Some other 6-wheel-RR were made for use at airports (as firetrucks) and for military use. The first owner had a large estate in North Wales on the LLandegla Moors. He used it as a shooting vehicle for rich Americans who were brought over from the USA to shoot pheasants and grouse on the moors (this is why is has many small windows. so the tourists could shoot from the windows without being seen. It was designed to have sliding windows where you could have 6 shooters in the rear of the vehicle. Behind the driver was a division containing refreshments (not there anymore). In 1983. when the estate was denuded of any game (nothing else to shoot). it was sold and we bought it (we are the second owners). In 1984 it was driven to Portugal and legalized here. The original engine was a 3. 8L petrol V8. This engine was removed and replaced by a more economical 4. 2L diesel Perkins (no turbo) engine. This work was completed by "Diesel Engine Conversions". Cambridge. This work also involved a stiffened front suspension and a new radiator.

Since the Perkins engine (new when fitted) was fitted. it has done about 50 thousand miles. Over the years it has been used to tow a horse box we used to own. a boat. fully loaded trailers. and used for trips and holidays out with family and friends.

It has been driven to England from Portugal a couple of times. Over the years we have had a few funny adventures with it and have often been pulled over by the police. not to see if the papers were in order. but just out of interest and curiosity.   It has also been victim of several attemps of break in but so far. only once was successful.

The local fire station has expressed an interest in it and tried to buy it but at the time it was not for sale because there was a lot of nostalgia involved with it. These days. thanks to my fathers retirement. it seeks a new home and that is why  it has been put up for sale.

The vehicle is currently uninsured and without MOT.
