Triumph Spitfire 1500 1976 hard top and overdrive very low milage for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.5) based on 685 votes

Welcome to the sale of my 1976 Triumph spitfire. The Spitfire is in very good condition with overdrive gearbox. factory hard top. soft top and full tonneau cover.

The car was delivered new to Mr Rodney Forrest of Croydon on the 1st April 1976. He kept the car until 25th August 1978 when it was sold locally to Miss Norma Nathan of Banstead Surrey Who kept the car for 31 years before passing it to her cousin Miss Diana Kemp. Miss Nathan spent most of her time in the USA and the car was garaged in the UK hence the very low mileage (backed up by MOT certificates). The car was off the road for long periods of time during the second owner's tenancy. When the car was sold to the last owner it underwent a minor mechanical re-commission in 2009 to pass its MOT. Again the car saw very little usage between 2009 and its sale to me in 2014. There was a re-spray on the car in 2012 at a cost of £2500 and the carbs were stripped and fitted with a new seal kit (£162. 00).

When I purchased the car a new clutch had been fitted by the owner's son. I have carried out a number of jobs on the car as listed below.

Full Service (inc plugs. points and condenser)

New Brake master cylinder

New front Callipers

New front flex hoses

New heater tap

Heater flush

New water hoses

New dab radio and speakers (ipod compat)

New Wood rim steering wheel

Fitted 12v outlet

Replaced press studs on hood and body

New Battery

Track and Balance

Carbs Professionally set up

The car runs fantastic and starts first time. the drive is wonderful and the overdrive gearbox is sound. Lots of history!! The only jobs left to do are reconnect the Speedo at the gearbox end (was overlooked on the clutch change!) I have not done this yet as the interior has to be stripped and I use a sat nav for speed reading (I have covered no more than 300 miles)! Painting the front bulkhead (not done on the re-spray). I only use the car in the dry and it is garaged so i didn't want to use black hammerite like most do!! My intention was to leave both jobs until winter. Carpet the boot!

I have the V5 and two sets of keys

Space means I have to now sell the car to make way for the Range Rover I have just purchased.

£250 PayPal deposit if not collecting in 24 hours! Cash only for the car please.
