I am offering my very original MK1 Triumph Stag 'The Major' up for sale. It is a much loved car. I can't think if anything else with the same presence for anywhere near this price.

(THIS IS A RE-LISTING AS I ACCIDENTALLY LISTED IT IN THE WRONG CATEGORY PREVIOUSLY ** (sorry)

I am starting the auction low to try and get more interest. The car has been valued at £8600

'The Major' is in very good condition having just been resprayed at the start of 2014. Being sold with a full MOT.

The car still has it's original Triumph 3L V8 engine having been fettled by well renowned Stag specialist Hart Racing (owned by Tony Hart. the founder of the Stag Owners Club) in the 1970-80's.

The car has an uprated Kenlowe fan and radiator. operated by a thermostat with a manual override although I haven't found this necessary. This has all meant that the engine is original and solid and the car runs very well without any risk of overheating.

In the last 100 miles I have also replaced the coolants with an Evans Waterless Coolant. carried out an oil service with new oil & filter and also new spark plugs.

The car was first registered in 1972 to a Major Parry in Jersey where it spent over 10 years with the same owner. In the early 1980's the car was registered in the UK for the first time and underwent a respray to gloss black from it's original brown. After one more owner in the South of England a good friend of mine bought the car in the early 2000's. I bought the car from him a year ago. I'm only the 5th owner.

The car is very original for it's age despite the colour change of course and the addition of the front spot lights added in the 1980's (these can be removed without trace as they are bolted t oteh underside of the bumper). It has the original tan vinyl seats and tan carpets. It is still running on its original factory steel wheels with chromed hubcubs and there is plenty of rubber on the tyres too. It is in generally very good condition for it's age but it is of course a 42 year old car! It is in a very good solid condition with great mechanicals.

Some info on the car:
-automatic transmition
-power steering
-electric windows
-radio/cassette player
-I have the original hard-top but it does need restoration
-fitted with an alarm and imobliser as per most insurance company's requirements
-all windows are etched with the registration number

The bad bits:
- the carpets are looking tired and you may wish to change them. I personally prefer them original as there's more character.
-it does drip a small amount of oil. This is completely normal and the best way to tell if a Triumph has oil in it!
-there are two small tears on the inward facing part of the front seats. as shown in the photos. not really noticeable
-the hood is in very good condition with one small exception. there is a 20mm bit of wear on the front near where it attaches to the screen. as shown in the photo. It is in a position that means it is not lilkey to get worse and isn't very noticable.
-it wouldn't take too much to make it look like new but you would have to change some of the chrome you pursued that line.

The very good bits:
-rare and original solid Triumph 3L V8 that sounds fantastic
-very solid rust-free body and chassis
-good mechanicals
-tax free and cheap to insure
-incredibly low mileage
-very few owners
-good history
-full MOT

I have been as honest and thorough as possible. If you would like any more information please don't hesitate to ask me a question.

Payment terms: I am reasonably flexible on the payment method but I will have to make sure all payments are cleared in full before collection.

Collection terms: Please make cleared funds available and collection is completed within 5 working days of the end of the auction.

Conditions of sale: A bid to buy is to buy. not just turn up and look around. you are very welcome to visit prior to the completion of the auction. I reserve the right to recover costs for false bids that do not meet the above terms.

Thank you for looking.
Good luck bidding
