1968 AUSTIN MINI MK1

This car is a genuine mk1 mini manufactured in 1967 and first registered in march 1968. The car is 47 years old still retaining a lot of the original equipment. The car was actually a 850 deluxe when it left the factory but it now is a  stunning "cooper" replica fitted with a 1380cc engine producing over 100bhp {which has been amended ie engine size on the V5 } .

I bought the car in 2006 as a "barn find" and did some minor work to be able to get an mot and use the car for a year and a half without fault. In 2008 I took the decision to take the car off the road as it was starting to deteriorate cosmetically as the original paintwork was poorly finished with age. I had all the bodywork professionally worked on and painted including heritage door skins and bonnet. Solid floor and all metal work is rot free . Finished with its original colour {Tartan Red}. The car has sailed through its MOT's since then each year but I have only covered around 200 miles per year going to and from car shows. The car has never been out in the rain or winter months and is always kept in dry storage. I am selling the car due to the lack of use and I would like to move on with a personal business so sadly the car needs to fund that . The car was fitted with a 1380cc engine and it has covered 5000 miles {new speedo fitted at same time } serviced each year and never misses a beat.  Very quick compared to a standard mini . a standard cooper in 1968 produced 55bhp . this car produces double that. KAD quick shift gear linkage. adjustable control arms and original works style suspension mounts and rubbers running the original hydro elastic system. It has the biggest brakes you can fit under 10" wheels . The wheels are Dunlop reverse rims. Rare 130mph speedo and smiths rev counter. a lot of the interior is original ie door upholstery and headlining etc. NEW high quality clutch fitted over the winter. I also have all its past history and a list of previous owners from new from the DVLA.

Points that aren't 100% ;

interior is tired and could do with a freshen up with new door cards and possibly dash covering and carpet . they aren't worn or dirty just poor fitting/worn now after the years. Door seals could do with changing.

tracking is out a touch on the front

clutch could do with bleeding or a master cylinder repair kit . sometimes the clutch feels like there is still air in the system after me replacing the clutch plate recently. I hopefully will have the clutch bled for end of auction. {the car is still fully operational}

The car is fitted with budget tyres and aren't really or quality.

all above are easy fixes.

Any questions will be answered . please ask questions if you are unsure of anything and be clear on classic cars before bidding . This car is 47 years old and has to be treated like a 47 year old car . The car does need regular maintenance and it helps to be enthusiastic and be prepared for age related problems if you want to own a classic car. If that doesn't sound like what you want to hear then a classic is not for you. I have tried to be as honest as possible but there is a lot to take in with this car and it has a lot of new parts and rare parts that I might not have mentioned.

No test pilots or tyre kickers. and I wont swap for anything . This is a cash only sale with cash on collection. The car is in storage so viewing would have to be arranged to serious buyers.

I will work with a car courier service at the buyers expense and there risk.

This car will be advertised elsewhere and I can remove from the auction at anytime.
