Seller's notes: "This car is not in perfect condition but is a very good driver. Some areas of the car have had rust, but have been repaired. Other areas have minor rust and need to be sanded, primed and painted. Chrome is in decent condition considering the age of the car, and has pitting which can be seen in the photos. Exterior paint is in nice shape, with some minor wear. Interior needs to be redone, but is in good enough condition to use as a daily driver. Original glass, some windows have cracks and need to be replaced, which is an easy repair. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, with many items having been fully repaired, restored, or replaced."

You are bidding on a very unique Packard. This car was originally sold new at Haley's Packard dealership which at the time was located in Washington. D. C. As the car was expensive at the time. the likelihood of this car being owned by a prominent political figure during that period is very high. This car is not currently painted it's original color. As per the VIN# and production codes on the body. this car began it's life in or near the third week of January 1950 as a well optioned Turquoise Blue Packard. Through back and forth correspondence with noted Packard historian. Robert J. Neal. I was able to determine that this is a numbers matching car. with three very rare options. Turquoise blue paint.  the "Egyptian" hood ornament. and the "Ultramatic" automatic transmission. Obviously this car was ordered by someone who definitely knew what they wanted. and were specific with the options.
Prior to my wife and I acquiring this car. it had been owned for 21 years by a gentleman in Maryland. and kept in storage. There is no information when the car was repainted or why. as well as when the interior was altered. So much information tends to be lost with these 22nd and 23rd series Packards that it's nearly impossible to provide.
To give you an idea of how rare this car is. in 1950 only 13025 Deluxe 8 sedans were produced with only a very small percentage in Turquoise Blue with an Ultramatic transmission. It really is a miracle that this care ever survived.
Since owning the car. my wife and I have completed the following repairs. All work was performed at Custom Auto Repair by top restoration expert and local AACA President Bob Dunn 954-782-2263. You can call him. he knows the car well.
*Engine was degreased and painted. but not opened up.  *Generator was rebuilt. * NOS Packard oil filter accessory was installed.  *Ignition was changed over to a Pertronix unit. but was integrated to look original.  *New NAPA 6 Volt battery and cables were installed.  *New spark plugs and spark plug cables.  *Oil has been changed 3 times. nbsp;with the pan removed. hot tanked. and reinstalled with new gaskets.  *Carburetor was completely rebuilt. and customized internally to handle E-85 gas.  *Original Packard NOS fuel filter accessory was installed as well.  *Radiator was completely removed. hot tanked. and re-cored. along with a new water pump.  *The car never overheats. even in hot weather at stop lights. making this a great car for touring.  *New period correct Stainless Steel exhaust system installed. purchased this from Kanters. *Gas tank was completely refurbished by Gas Tank Renu. and reinstalled with the correct hardware. *Electronic fuel pump has been installed to help with easy starts. Even after sitting for days or weeks. the car starts within seconds. *Complete brake job. all new lines. master cylinder. and brakes on all four wheels. Car stops exceptionally well with no fade. *NOS Packard back up light installed. *Four  brand new Universal 760-15 period correct bias ply tires (chosen to have the car ride as it did in 1950)*NOS "Ultramatic"emblem on the rear decklid. This item is nearly impossible to find. and it is in perfect condition. *NOS turn signal and gear selector knobs. perfect condition.
The visor on the car is period correct. but it is not a Packard visor. and was on the car when purchased.
My wife and I had originally planned on restoring this car completely. and using it often. but are selling because of time constraints with our real estate business.  Most of the tough items have already been addressed. and the car runs beautifully. The engine does not smoke. and is timed perfectly. This car would make a perfect Father-Sonrestoration project. or just a great car to get into the antique car hobby without having to spend $50k plus on other cars.
Ive had all kinds of antique cars ranging from a 1951 Ford Convertible to a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. even a 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible. but none of these cars ever garnered the attentionthat this Packard does. Everywhere I drive with this car. horns blow. thumbs go up. and smiles are on everyone's faces. This car is very unique and definitely a forgotten piece of America's history. a time when super high quality cars were built. This car will hands down get you far more attention at a car show than a 1957 Chevrolet or a Camaro/Mustang ever will. Heck this car get's moreattention on the road than a new Rolls Royce does. Don't believe me? You will once you drive it around and see the reactions.
This old girl needs a good home. and an owner that will take her to the next level and care for her as my wife and I have done.
