1980 Ford Escort Harrier * Fast road spec *

Chasing Classic Cars. /span> are pleased to offer the following Ford Escort Mk2 Harrier 1600. these are rare cars with only 1500 produced in the UK!

This Ford Escort Harrier is a 1980 registered car and is a great drive putting a huge grin on your face when you drive these Iconic rear wheel drive Fords. Showing a mileage of 88735 and just having passed an MOT. and with a full service recently completed including new rear brakes and high pressure oil pump.

This car is one of the 500 Silver metallic cars built it has a black vinyl roof. and also has the benefit of never having had a glass sun roof fitted. the interior has just been refurbished with new Recaro Fishnet seat covers in the correct black beta cloth. together with a recent new carpet. alloy edge trims and rear wheel arch vinyl's.

The car is now 34 years old. and of course has had welding like most classic Fords. however the car is solid. and not a patchwork of panels welded to each other. the floor only appearing to have one small plate welded on the nearside. The car apparently had a full respray in the early 2000s and it was a good job. however that was now nearly 15 years ago. and the car does need a bit of tidying in a few places. nothing major.

Under the bonnet it has had new strut top plates welded on. the original chassis number is on a plate attached to the front slam panel as is the original harrier tag. and this car is confirmed on the Harrier register. apart from the Ford spot lights. everything else looks to be original. even the ford RS wheels.

The car has just been set up on a rolling road at a Webber specialist and produced a 101 BHP at 5500 RPM. it is believed to have a 244 camshaft. worked head. steel rocker gear and janspeed manifold. it is very driveable but pulls well from 3000 RPM. it would produce more power with twin 40's but I removed them for reliablity and ease of tuning. but would be available for an extra fee.

The Car starts and drives well. pulling well in all of the gears. it has no issues with any of the running gear. the clutch. gearbox and brakes all work fine.

A fully restored Harrier would probaly fetch £18-20. 00 and prices seem to be rising daily. This is NOT a fully restored example. and would probably need £3-4000 to make it one. I will not accept any offers. if it does not sell for the asking price then I will get it restored in the autumn myself. If you are following Classic car prices. you will know how quick 1970s and 80s cars are appreciating. especially Ford Escorts. The Harrier was a limited edition. far fewer of these were built than RS2000s and these are sure to become VERY collectable.
