The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was introduced in 1954 in coupé form
and was the first truly mass produced Alfa Romeo. It was also a
return to elegance rather than the utilitarian looks of the earlier
models. April 1955 saw the introduction of the Berlina (saloon) and
later in the summer of that year the beautiful and almost ageless
Spider saw the light of day. All of the Giulietta models were
driven by the all alloy. twin overhead camshaft engine with gearing
via a four speed. all synchromesh gearbox. The 101 Series of the
Giulietta was introduced in 1959 and retained the 1290cc all alloy
engine; Importantly; the Giulietta is known for its reliability and
durability with parts and services being readily available from
many specialists throughout the UK and Europe.

We are proud to offer today an outstanding example of a 1960 Alfa
Romeo Giulietta Spider. A letter on file from 'Automobilismo
Storico' (the Alfa Romeo museum archive. Arase. Milan) resides
within the delightfully presented history file and confirms that
chassis AR 1495. 09379 was manufactured 25 March 1960 and sold to
Hoffman Motor Co (N. Y USA) on 20 April 1960. The Giulietta was
subsequently imported back into Europe (Holland) on 30th October
1989.

An extensive. no expense spared. restoration began in 2008 and was
completed in 2011 to the standard you see today. The works
carried out included the body shell being completely stripped down
to bare metal with every component on the car dismantled. All
areas of corrosion were removed from the body shell and replaced as
necessary. The shell was then treated and re-sprayed in Alfa
Rosso Chiaro (AR 505) - an original Giulietta colour.

All of the mechanical and ancillary components were either
rebuilt or replaced - this includes a new stainless steel fuel
tank. restored steel wheels complete with new tyres (including the
spare) and the 1290 cc engine was fully rebuilt. To improve
the usability. the original 4-speed gearbox was replaced with a
rebuilt 5-speed unit and an electronic ignition system was added to
assist better starting. reliability and running. Within the
interior. all new wool carpets were fitted. the seats re-trimmed in
leather and new door cards & side panels fitted. A new
mohair hood keeps the weather out when required and for winter use. br/>the rare and desirable Pininfarina Hardtop has been sourced and
refurbished with new sealing rubbers. side & front fixing
hooks. full internal beige lining and finished in Rosso Chiaro to
match the coachwork.

The Giulietta is UK registered. with a current MOT test
certificate valid until March 2015 and Historic tax status valid
until the end of January 2015. Having covered less than 400 miles
since restoration. here is an opportunity to acquire a beautiful
Giulietta Spider recently restored to an exceptional standard at a
price well below current restoration costs.
