At the end of 1984. Tom Walkinshaw of TWR announced his
intention to build a range of special XJS Coupés under the name TWR
Sport and called it the XJR-S. A significant development had gone
into the cars. aided by TWR's experience with European touring car
XJ-S's they had raced for Jaguar. A wind tunnel was used to design
the new GRP body kit which provided a 12% improvement
coefficient.
Exterior brightwork was either painted satin black or finished to
co-ordinate with the body colours and bodies were painted in a
specific range of single tone or two tone schemes. The final
external touch was the substitution of 8" x 18" Speedline alloy
wheels fitted with Goodyear NCT Eagle tyres.
Internally the TWR cars benefitted from new seat covers with
inlaid stitched panels of tweed. colour coded to match exterior
paintwork and a specially designed leather trimmed four spoke
steering wheel. Mechanically the buyer had the choice of either a
conventional 3. 6 litre six cylinder or a 5. 3 litre V12 engine.
Alternatively a well breathed on 6. 0 litre V12 engine was available
with a special long throw crankshaft. forged pistons and remapped
electronics which took the car up to 380bhp and a top speed of
170mph.

This six litre example presents in extremely good order
throughout. Supplied with a current MoT test certificate valid
until November this year as well as a number of previous
items. This very tidy example has formed part of an extensive
private Jaguar-orientated collection for a number of years and is
stored in an air-conditioned 'car-coon'. There are also receipts. br/>the most recent being from Norman Motors. Jaguar/Daimler
specialists and latterly. Stratstone. for servicing and repairs
works. Hugely powerful and becoming very sought-after these days.
Make no mistake. this is not just a body-kit. this is the correct
full blown six-litre TWR version.
