1966 Morris Minor - Restored - Classic Car - Summer bargin

Unfinished Morris Minor Project.

I have to face facts. it's time to sell this car. before I am homeless and single!

I bought this car as a shell with no windows. one wing. no engine or gearbox.

Having spent thousands of hours working on it. I now have to sell it before I have time to enjoy it. due to a pending house purchase.

This is a 1966. Morris Minor 1000. With a 1098cc A series engine and 4 speed gear box.

Exterior:

This car came to me as Oxford blue. albeit a very patchy one

This shell has been stripped back. new quarter panels. as these always rust. 4 replacement wings. new head lights. side lights. and rear lights refurbished. Brand new window rubbers. brand new door rubbers. bonnet rubbers

It is now Cornish Cream. which is still a British Leyland colour. why not Old English White you ask? The rubbers for the rear wings are closer to Cornish Cream than OEW!

Wheels refurbished in White to match the front grill.

Brand new chrome bumpers. front and back. new chrome all over the front grill. new chrome on the bonnet badge.

Hand painted red strip along the coach line. painted by a traditional sign writer who is entrusted by Rolls Royce to do customers classic cars.

Interior:

Red Vinyl seats. with matching door pockets. custom made red leather door pulls. new red carpet to match.

Brand new head lining.

Switches either replaced with matching originals. or replaced for something more convenient. the washer pump. which was never any good. is now electric. with a button that looks like the original dash mounted pump.

Single speed heater.

Spare wheel in white. boot floor carpeted.

Engine / Engine Bay:

A series 1098cc. Engine painted. and serviced before being put in. Engine bay has been stone chipped. and painted to keep it looking fresh.

Wiring loom has been updated. parts replaced. and then all tapped up to look clean and tidy.

New battery wiring and terminals.

New HT leads. distributor cap. rotor arm and points. New plugs.

Recent oil and filter change.

New horn.

Pretty much everything in the engine bay has been painted or cleaned. refurbished and replaced.

Brand new AP brake master cylinder. new brake lines. new shoes all around and snail cams.

Car comes with MOT until November 2014. and TAX (tax exempt anyway)

Bad parts:

Washer pump needs wiring up.

Engine has started to make a bit of a knocking noise under hard acceleration.

Could do with the flasher unit changing. as it's slightly too fast.

Despite being welded up when the car was stripped. the B pillars are cracked again. which is a common fault on all Morris Minors.

Fuel gauge doesn't work. I have tried to take the sender out of the tank. but the bolts won't move. I just keep it topped up all of the time.

The boot doesn't lock. no key that I have. fits it.

I have receipts for £1000's. there are things I don't have receipts for with must total just as much.

If there are any questions you would like to ask. fire away. I know this car inside out. and despite having a love hate relationship with it. it has to go!

I have pictures of just about everything. from the day we collected it. to being stripped down. pictures of braking parts ready to put in. pictures of nuts and bolts etc to how it stands now.

I hope the bad parts haven't put you off. as this really is a good car. which needs a loving new home.

This car gets looks and thumbs up every where it goes. maybe because its so nice to see a good example of a classic car on the road.
