1971 Mk1 Capri 1300 L. pre-facelift. with just under 29. 00 miles on the clock.
Stunning condition. nbsp;all original bodywork. panels and glass. no rust. never welded. This really is a rare opportunity to purchase a fully original. mint condition 1970s classic.
Car is MOT'd until May 2015 and has just been fully serviced with oils. lubes. plugs etc all changed at start of May 2014. Road tax exempt due to 'historical' car status.

This car is a specimen. It turns heads. gets thumbs up and plenty of nods of approval on the road. and is truly a pleasure to drive. As unbelievable as this may sound. London bus and taxi drivers even smile at me when I drive it and give way to me. This car brings out the best in humanity!
I've had it down to the guys at the Ford Heritage Collection at the Ford factory in Dagenham and spent some time with them. as I was doing some research on the history of the Capri. They were seriously impressed at how pristine the car is. Ivan and Colin have worked on Fords since the late 60s/early 70s (they won't appreciate that being made public knowledge!). and told me they don't see any hanging around in this condition these days! This is a real one-off opportunity.

History:
The car was imported to the UK from Malta at the beginning of 2013. Prior to that it had been in the Maltese Classic Car Museum for 11 years (all import papers to support this. and it's still featured on their website).
Before that it had just two owners. hence the very low mileage. It was first registered in Malta in 1971. Everything is original; panels. bodywork. glass. and it even has the original jack and driver's manual. It's not far off how it rolled out of the factory back in 1971.
The only non-standard fittings are the wheels (which are 13” mini-lites and look great). the gear nob. and a pair of bullet-style wing mirrors which I had fitted because driving in London requires more than just a Hail Mary and a hopeful glance over the shoulder. The passenger-side wing mirror does not give any view however. and was fitted for symmetry only.
I also had the engine converted from the original dynamo to an alternator in October 2013. as it wasn't regulating properly and the power surge was killing the battery. Needless to say I also had a new battery installed too. Runs perfectly.
This pre-facelift Capri has its original Kent engine. as opposed to the Pinto that was installed in the facelift models. Checking the records indicates there are only 7 of these pre-facelift Kent engine models left in the UK. It's rare. especially in this condition.

Bodywork:
Finished in diamond white. the car had a new paintjob in 2004 and it looks fantastic. There are a few small blemishes but they are not easily noticed at all. Bodywork is all completely standard with no signs of replacement panels. wings. filler etc. Completely rust free and the underside is just so as well. No welding ever done. and none needed.
Doors and boot shut perfectly. everything lines up precisely and is straight as an arrow. Rubber seals all in excellent shape. as is the chrome work. There are some minimal marks on parts of the chrome. but these are only noticeable up close. The windows are all factory fitted Ford stamped original glass.

Interior:
Black leather interior which is in unbelievably good condition for a 43-year-old car. No tears. marks. scuffs or signs of wear and tear on the leather. Smells. feels and sounds brilliant when you get into the car.
Seats. carpets. door cards. dash. trim. parcel shelf all in excellent and unmarked condition. It has the original period 8-track with rear shelf speakers – it doesn't work but the wire feeds through standard grommet holes so you could get something hooked up easily.
The floors under the carpets are faultless. In the boot. the spare wheel well and boot floor is all as it originally was – no rust. no welding etc. There is no spare wheel.

Under the bonnet:
Clean and simple and in the kind of condition you'd expect of such a low mileage car. Original stickers. Alternator conversion and new battery as previously stated. and new fan belt fitted too. There is a slight bit of surface rust to the bulk head around the brake master cylinder. but this is minimal. non problematic and in the early stages.

On the road:
Starts without a hitch every time. manual choke. Runs smooth. no weird noises. smoke etc.
Amazing to drive – the closest to driving a brand new Capri in 1971 as is possible to get. Gears change perfectly. Original drum brakes.
New front tyres on at the start of the year. I had brand new radius arms installed on near and off sides after advisory on MOT for 'slight play in a pin/bush' on each.
The car has been driven weekly and kept in a private. covered garage in London to maintain its excellent condition. I have also spent a considerable amount on it over the past 7 months on the aforementioned work/services to ensure it has been maintained beautifully. I have all receipts and invoices for all the work. services and the MOT.
If full asking price is offered I will throw in a Hamilton Classic Ltd All-Weather Moltex Outdoor Car Cover (breathable. fleece lined) which I purchased brand new for £160 just 6 months ago. a fresh 5-litre can of Halfords 20/50 Classic Car Oil. and a brand new set of unused axle stands too.
