GT40 can-am historic sportscar Fiberfab 1967 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 424 votes

This superb looking sports car was built in 1967 and registered in the USA in 1968.

It could be used for classic racing or historic racing.

It can be registered in the UK. I have the USA title for the car 1968. correctly titled as a Fiberfab sports. nbsp;and all the customs clearance approval papers for registration.

It was built by a company called Fiberfab and is no 19 of 50 factory cars. The company has just started up again and is building bespoke cars to order.

Rear of car lifts to gain access to the motor. electric locked in place. very advanced thinking whent into this car. real space age period 60's design.

In its day it was advertised as a 180 MPH car.

I imported it from California where it spent most of its life.

The condition of the car is very nice. this is a big car and very much like the GT40 that was racing in this period.

It only stands waste high about 40" to the roof. 6ft wide and 14ft long.

The body is fiberglass. built on a very strong box section chassis. the paintwork is loverly. no chips or crazing. couple of blemishes on the grey paint on the front of the car. could be from being covered by a stick on number plate.

The engine is 5000cc Chevrolet V8 of 400hp manufactured by Weiand racing. with a holly 4 barrel carb on an elderbrook intake. 4 branch tube exhaust each side. gearbox is a 4 speed transaxle by chevrolet. very powerful unit.

Rear suspension is adjustable. I have lowered it to the original ride height. it is now lower than in the first pic listed by 2".

The last owner told me the car runs and drives. I have had it running. but could do with fresh petrol. and a tune up.  car was being used in the USA.

Wire wheels. with spare.  stainless fuel tank.

Basic but very nice interia. dash is loverly. all gauges work. seats are race bucket built into the body with leather pads. seatbelts fitted.

The car requires some work. /p>

It needs a handbrake for the MOT. none fitted at present. easiest way is to fit a hydraulic setup.

The door glass needs fitting with the door cards. all included with the car. the door lock mechanism needs to be fitted I have the electrical control card for this.

I would upgrade the front brakes and suspension for more modern items. the roads conditions have moved on since 1967

A few weekends work should see it done. depending what you want to use it for and how far you go.

GT40 replicas now fetch over £40. 00 as a starter.

All in all a very special car that is very rare and beautiful to look at.

Not to be missed

Some pics from California some from here.

Real investment. valuable fun race/road car. nbsp;or just put it in your front room and look at it. nbsp;it looks so fab.

No reserve. but it will need to reach a decent price. you can not build these cars for less than £18. 00 for parts alone.
