One of the very last of the Silver Dawns. and a really lovely. correct and complete car. which has been very well cared for. Very nicely finished in Tudor Grey over Shell Grey. with delightful red leather interior in very appealing condition. The car is sound. unmolested. drives very nicely. and is complete with all tools. large & small. handbook. and a history file which includes the original sales receipt from May 1955. for a total of £4. 60. 2s. 6d! If you are looking for a lovely example to use and enjoy. this is as good as you would want it to be! An excellent car.

Snippets: Curtis's Corsets & Sacred Bark

Leonard Vincent Curtis was the son of H. E Curtis whose company invented the Curtis “Crossed Hands” Corset-Belt. The adverts (dated in the 1930s) state that “if you want to regain youthful lines & charm of appearance. you must test for yourselves the astonishing properties of the “Crossed Hands” Corset-Belt. ” The company also manufactured Children's Trusses. the Maternity Belt & in 1929 H E Curtis had registered the trade mark name “Colonol Liquid Paraffin” which is still sold today in America (the ingredients of which include African Bird Pepper & Cascara Sagrada - translates as “Sacred Bark”). Upon Leonard V. Curtis's death in 1967 the Silver Dawn passed into the hands of one of his close friends & executor – Llewellyn Cyril Rodaway RNVR. In time Llewellyn Rodaway gave SVJ125 to his son who was based in the USA; after Llewellyn Rodaway's death his son remembered the interest that had been shown in SVJ125 by one of his father's friends. he contacted the gentleman concerned who duly purchased the car. thus making the Silver Dawn a 3 family car.
