1958 JAGUAR Mk1 RARE 3.4 liter 4speed overdrive EXCELLENT SURVIVOR for sale

Rare 1958 Jaguar 3. 4 liter. 4 speed overdrive. MK1 Saloon. Original numbers matching car. Rare 4speed with overdrive. Excellent restored/survivor condition. Rust and accident free.   If you are the savvy kind of collector that appreciates the charm and patina of a survivor yet actually likes to drive your cars as well. this is the Jag MK1 you have been looking for!
The original engine. transmission and suspension have been completely rebuilt. New clutch pressure and TO bearing. This is a very early 4 wheel disc brake car. the calipers have been rebuilt. the servo is new as are all the flex lines. Brake master cylinder is new the clutch master & slave cylinder are rebuilt. I have not been able to locate the correct hand brake cables. so the car has no hand brake at this time. It has new shocks all around and 5 new radial tires on the black wheels. The engine has a convenient spin on oil filter conversion. In addition. the electric fuel pump is new. the carbs were rebuilt and the fuel tank was removed. boiled out and sealed. I have installed a manual switch to operate the electronic choke. The radiator has been cored out. water pump rebuilt and new hoses with correct hose clamps installed through out. Rebuild generator and wiper motor as well.   All instruments in the dash work perfectly. It retains the original set of keys and all locks function properly. Light. blinkers. horn and charging system all work properly. I replaced all the rubber coated electrical wiring snap connecters. and cleaned all wiring grounds at the same time to keep the LUCAS gremlins away. It sports a new custom performance exhaust system that sounds out of this world. While very few miles have been covered since these overhauls. the car is fully sorted. road tested and ready to go. The goal of the mechanical restoration was to produce a reliable. excellent driver. suitable for vintage rallies or long distance classic car events. It is very comfortable yet handles like a sports car. This Jag can sit for months and she will still fire right off the switch.

The car's cosmetics have been sympathetically restored to retain it's original charm and patina. The seats have been recovered. new carpet installed. the headliner and door panels are original. The woodwork was all painstakingly refinished as was the steering wheel. All the glass and chrome is original and look very good for original. The car was re-painted many years ago. in the original dove gray color. but still presents very well. The body is truly excellent. having spent most of it's life in hot dry north central California. The floors. rockers. sills. jacking points. wheel arches. trunk and spare tire tray are perfect rust free. The only rust I can find on the car is one small blister on the LH rear door. There are a few small dings. chips and scratches.

Included in the sale is the complete original tool kit. original owners handbook and warranty card and 4 nice chrome wire wheels

It is titled as a 58. but the original warranty card indicates it was delivered new near Los Angeles California in November 1957. so it could be entered in many production date sensitive  international vintage auto events and rallies.

Not to be confused with it's far more common and less sporting brother. the MK 2. there are only a handful of excellent LHD MK1 Jaguars left in the world. The majority of Mk1's that were imported to the USA have the dreadful Borg Warner D250 automatic transmission and front bench seat. To me. the Jag MK 1 is just as sexy and exotic as the XK 150…. at a fraction of the cost and with the extra perk of having a real back seat so friends or family can share in the fun. I searched for many many years to find this car.

Forget the MK1's with the 2. 4 engine. they have no power and drum brakes. Forget the automatics because they are just awful and forget the rusty RHD cars. This LHD 3. 4  4 sp o/d  MK 1 has all the right stuff properly done.

Unique opportunity to own a rare. fast. tight and fun vintage sports saloon.

If vintage racing is your style. check out the youtube video of the Jaguar MK1 at the Goodwood Festival to see what the Brits can do with a hot MK1. Don't tell the kids. they think they invented drifting.
