57 EKX is a 1961 Slough-built ID19. It was first registered 27th April 1961 when acquired by Camden Motors Ltd of Leighton Buzzard. its chassis number being 9/7776. The car originally wore the index number 839 BTM. Camden Motors sold the vehicle to Hill & Richard Ltd of Bletchley on 14th June 1961 and within three weeks it was acquired by Citroen Cars Ltd at Slough whereupon it was re-registered 57 EKX. the registration being one in a series of index numbers used for the firm's press and publicity cars. The reason for Citroen buying the car is that it wanted a particular ID19 for press and publicity purposes. thus it was reserved for the firm's directors' use on company business. Ken Smith. former Chief Engineer at Slough. recalls driving the car in the early Sixties. Citroen sold the car in March 1963 to Harold Thomas of Bletchley and in June 1965 sold it to Walter Edwards of Bletchley who kept it until the late 1980s.

The car was bought by Dominic Raffo and Geoffrey Rothon who prepared it for the 1991 Monte Carlo Challenge. their participation in the event being recorded by Popular Classics magazine. The well known motoring author Malcolm Bobbitt then acquired the car approx. 1992. in 2000 the car was completely overhauled by DS specialist Dave Ashworth of Blackpool and repainted and reupholstered in the original Sherwood Green with Daffodil roof and beige leather interior with contrasting green carpeting. At the same time it was modified to use LHM fluid and electronic ignition was fitted. In 2009 Dave Ashworth rebuilt the engine and fitted power-assisted steering to original specification. In 2010 the braking system was overhauled with new front brake calipers fitted. Over the years the car has been maintained to a high standard irrespective of cost and was eventually sold to the present owner in 2012.

The vehicle has featured in BBC TV's The Car's the Star and Discovery's Top Marques as well as digital channel's episode about Flaminio Bertoni. It has also been seen in numerous magazine articles and in books.

This car is being sold on behalf of the owner.
