Jaguar Monaco £14995

The Jaguar Monaco is a very rare car indeed. built to a design by Paul Bailey Designs in conjunction with Jaguar between 1989 and 2001. The first was a special order by the Sultan of Brunei and in total there where supposed to have been 10 built before the company ceased trading after Paul Bailey allegedly had a heart attack. The Sultan of Brunei apparently owned two. Number one a coupe was produced in red with a solid gold growler badge on the bonnet with diamonds for eyes. The other was a convertible. but the design did not work well in its convertible form as the lines did not flow and they suffered badly with scuttle shake.

Research indicates that car number 10 was never built as the silver plaque for the car was retained by the silversmith in case he ever had his own car built. which as far as I am aware never happened. However it seems that just a few more cars where produced either at the Bristol factory or from the original molds before they where apparently bought and shipped to Texas.

Car No11 was built before the company went into liquidation and seems to have left the factory in Bristol during the winding up process. This was a left hand drive 6 ltr convertible. As production numbers where so low each car was built to order and had its own unique features. such as filler cap design. rear light cluster changes. wheels. colours etc. A wedding hire company in Bristol claim to have number 12.

The car for sale here is one of the very last kits sold by Paul Bailey. likely to be number 13. but as Jaguar did not mark the chassis with any special designation and there where no silver badges after number 10 there is nothing to substantiate this. Regardless of this the car speaks for itself. a beautiful example in superb condition.

It is often said that the car took its design cues from the Aston Martin DB7 and or the XK8. however this car designed in 1989 preceded both of these. hence it seems the Monaco influenced both of these later cars. As is often the case. the original has the bolder more extreme design with later more mass market cars merely taking cues from the original.

This car needs to be seen to fully appreciate just how beautiful it is. the perfect paintwork is Aston Martin Titanium silver. note the close up of the fuel filler for just how metallic this is.  Interior is finished in light grey leather perfectly complimenting the exterior. there is a premium Kenwood sound system MP3 and 6CD changer with Panasonic flat Sub under the seat and Kappa Infinity speakers all round. Remote central locking with alarm. push button start. Jaguar image puddle lights. Xenon headlights.

Wheels are 3 piece modular alloys which have been freshly repainted in graphite and complement the bodywork perfectly. Wearing Pirelli P Zeros with race type valves.

Engine: Is a beautifully detailed 3. 6 ltr straight six. powerful. reliable and economical with re-built head. The sound can only be described as awe inspiring.

This car really gets noticed and is regularly invited to shows etc. I never go out without somebody commenting. It is for sale as I am losing my garage space and no way is this car going to park on the street. The new owner will be a very lucky person and the trustee of a very special piece of automotive history. Any further info just call me.
